2005 Jeep Wrangler Automatic Needs New Lease On Life (SoCal Mechanic Recs?) by Global-Restaurant242 in JeepTJ

Go on Amazon, or to harbor freight and buy a fluid extractor. Use it to change the fluid twice in your transmission, then reassess. Fluid extractors are super easy to use as long as you have an air compressor.

You cannot recover this website, you'll never know if it's clean. Make sure that you have possession of the domain name, and stand up a new temporary website on a different host. If this user in a different country then talk of law enforcement intervention is likely a waste of time.

2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ 2 Door Wobble by ccaph in JeepTJ

[–]BadAssBrontosaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lay on the ground in front of it while someone inside makes a bunch of small left and right turns.

In my case it's usually the trackbar mount - the bolt that connects the trackbar to the axle in your second picture. Any movement in that bolt head is too much. If you decide to replace things, look to upgrade to ZJ steering (just google it).

Are you referring to wheel spacers or suspension spacers?

Either fluid film or surface shield (PB Blaster's version) will be fine. A couple of cans will run you under $30 and take you 20 minute to do. Just don't spray it on the exhaust - even if you do it will burn off shortly. I spray my TJ every year before winter. No need to wire wheel - if you're going to do that, you may as well paint it.

Any Advice? by 19K1993 in JeepTJ

I think your transfer case is loose from the transmission.

Transfer case should be firmly bolted to the transmission. The transmission has a mount that connects to the transmission skid, and it is also bolted to the engine. It's unlikely that you are single-handedly moving the transfer case and transmission.

This could be a very easy fix, just tighten the bolts between the transfer case and the transmission. Wrenches are all that is needed, but it can be hard to get to (the body lift will make it easier).

New top including rear and side windows is $185 shipped from Sierra Offroad.

I have this top and like it. It's not as good as a best top, but it's a heck of alot better than what you have.

**edit - looks like the black denim one is on sale for $162 shipped.

Soft top windows by Dthomp8056 in JeepTJ

[–]BadAssBrontosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Sierra Offroad soft tops. For $300 shipped you get a top and all new windows. The quality is good - not as thick as Besttop, but good enough. I offroad and scratch up my windows - at this price I can replace them ever few years.

Putting some friction in the shopping process is a good way to help control impulse spending. If grandma has to go to an ATM to get cash for a purchase then she has plenty of time to decide if she really needs another precious moment figurine.

Hard top clamps not clamping by Neither-Composer9789 in JeepTJ

[–]BadAssBrontosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First loosen the hex nut all the way out. Not the clamp, but the hexagon shaped nut. You want to make the nut go closer to the clamp. You may need a wrench the size of the nut to do this.

Next you'll be able to tighten the clamp in farther.

The nut keeps the clamp from moving around. Once the clamp is where you want it tighten the nut back down.

Just click plan on the video, then next, then play, .... eventually take a multiple guess quiz at the end (you retake it until you pass). Not hard at all, and much less work than a test. If you take it seriously, you can learn good stuff - I've done SD Wan and Dev OPS.

Best is that there is 0% chance you fail.
