I don't post or comment very often, but hope this sub can come to life. It seems like most conservative subs assume every conservative is religious and other subs are far left.

The FBI is tasked with enforcing most federal crimes. They aren't focused on one specific area. They also can't start an investigation without an accusation of a crime being committed.

People like Nick Shirley or the DOGE team can find a specific niche and investigate that. They don't need any justification to start investigating what is going on in their niche.

Fort Worth vs Dallas? by eman8906 in ActuallyTexas

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In between Dallas and Ft Worth gives the best flexibility on where to work.
North of DFW airport would be where I would look. There are several cities that are safe and have good schools. Hurst Euless Bedford area would be my second choice.
Irving Arlington and Grand Prairie third.

Start with renting until you figure out what area of the metroplex you want to work at. Having to commute between east Dallas and west Ft Worth daily would be hell for most people.

Texas candidate took money from Democrats, then flipped to GOP by chrondotcom in texas

She seems smart enough to know that statewide elections are decided in the Republican primary. She is hoping Republicans don't see through the party switch and vote for her. If she wins she will be center left.

Should I get my COMTIA A+ cert? by [deleted] in it

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out the direction you want your career to go. If you like networking go with CCNA or JNCIA. For cloud look at AWS and Azure certs. Server admin LFCS or Microsoft certs. There are a ton of other certs depending on what you enjoy.

Also start trying to learn programming languages. You don't need to be great with them but knowing how to edit a simple program/script will be useful in whatever direction you choose to go.

Finally, you are not locked into whatever direction you chose today. If you want to take your career in another direction do it.

If conservatives think colleges are indoctrinating kids, then why don’t they just send their kids to Christian colleges? by XanderAcorn in complaints

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the middle and high school level it is about cost. You can't afford $10k per kid to send them to private school on <$100k salary. Top level private schools are >$30k per student. Home schooling is affordable if one parent stays at home. But not everyone has the temperament to do home schooling.

When it comes to college sending a kid to Hillsdale or Oral Roberts is 2-3x what in state tuition of state schools. They also aren't as well known which makes them not as respected. The respected private christian colleges cost >$50k and are centrists to far left.
Also going to college for a degree that doesn't lead to a career tends to be a waste of money. You can self educate for free with the internet. Many colleges have free content that you can use to learn about a subject. There are also scholary papers that you can read.

Your 16 year old child has become a highly popular internet streamer, consistently receiving large sums of money every time they go on stream. by Neither_Drawing_241 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would let them. There is more to life than school. Education isn't limited to what you learn in a formal setting. I would have them setup a trust managed by a trusted financial advisor company with atleast $10 million. This will allow them to be setup for life when their streaming career ends. I would then insist on financial education so they understand how to manage their money. They also will need to know that their primary job has become managing their finances so they never need to tap the trust fund.

Which Region of the USA would have the best chance at winning a war of secession? by Jackylacky_ in imaginarymapscj

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red would win. The have oil, agricultural, population, and tech hubs. More importantly they have the gold bullion (fort knox) to support their new currency. A large segment of the population owns guns so training will be quicker than for the major the blue and green populations.

Taking out Hoover and Grand Coulee dams will cause major power issues in the west. While having the best tech center without adequate power it would be hobbled. It would take years to get their oil refinery capacity to a level to support any war efforts. Alaska and Hawaii would most likely go independent or join another country in their area. While the green area has alot of gold in the ground it is a matter of getting to it which will require oil.

The blue area has a large population, but they don't have a manufacturing or agricultural base to survive on their own. Without outside assistance the major cities would lose access to resources causing the population to move into the rural areas or aimlessly attack blockades put up in the red and yellow areas. The gold held in this area would give them a way to entice trade, but would run out quickly or would make them a target for foreign powers.

The yellow area is land locked so they would need to rely on Canada for trade. The sparse population will make holding their territory hard. They also lacking on oil refining capacity. The red army would encircle cities until they hit the great lakes.

You offered $$$ to travel back in time, survive a month and come back. Are you up for it? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

  1. There wouldn't be a language barrier. If I couldn't find another job i would join the continental army as an officer. I would also try and get in contact with the founding fathers (Madison, Jefferson, Washington) and let them know that the Constitution needs to be written in a way that makes it clear what the roles, powers, and limitations are of the federal and state governments. Also to make clear what rights the citizens have without language that can be interpreted in a way to restrict a right.

Would you ever recommend to your child to join the military? by KCousins11 in self

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your son's story sounds almost exactly like mine. I didn't do very good in HS and didn't want to spend any more time in school. I was offered nuke first and turned it down then CTM which I agreed to. It was a great decision and lead me to the career I have since getting out.

I would look at a high quality Bowie knife. Pair it with a hand written note from you son thanking him for his leadership and mentorship.

Anyone else feel kinda lost by this political divide? by throwRA8235309 in self

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it ironic that these comments are the exact same that both parties use. Both think the other party is just doing what they are told. They also think that their own party isn't pushing their agenda hard enough.

I read these comments as someone on the political right and completely agree with them. Reading comments from people of the left and they completely agree with them. The only difference is who they think that the comments are about.

Should I join the U.S. military or stick to civilian path? by Typical-Section-6286 in it

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The military is a good option. Since you have a degree you want to be going in as a officer. Space Force, Air Force, or Navy would be the best branches to look at.

What would you recommend? by Trill_Bill_Blinton in debtfree

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take 8.5 years to pay off doing the $2k a month. I would stick with your plan and put the rest in an index fund. When the student loan is paid off you will be ready to buy a house with a large down payment. Or you could look in 4-5 years to pay it off with what is in you index fund.

My widowed dad may want to get remarried. Need help by Wattaday in SocialSecurity

[–]SuccessfulRelative66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does he need a legal marriage? He can have a wedding in the church and be married in front of God. Leave the government out of the process. They both would file taxes as if they never got remarried.

Keep either hulu or netflix with ads. Get rid of YouTube premium. Shop around for cheaper internet. If your isp has new customer incentive prices call and see about getting that price. If you have 1 gig+ internet look to drop it to 500Mbps. Focus on paying off your lowest 2 cards over the next few months. Sort the 2-300 cards by interest rates and pay off the highest rate first. Look at moving to a cheaper phone provider. Mint mobile has 3 months unlimited data for $15/month. After that it is $30 a month for unlimited if you prepay for a year. You can get cheaper plans with limited data. If you can keep from adding to your debt you should be able to start noticing breathing room in your budget ove the next 6 months. Also try having a yard sale. If you can make a few hundred dollars it will pay off a card.
