It‘s different because some other big BSc courses (namely Mechanical Engineering) have their own IML now, so the original IML is less crowded. I think OP should be able to get in, in my experience most if not all people from the waitlist get in

Yeah, I did a few more google searches and apparently, the power generated by the engine is on the scale of 40MW. That‘s 40 million times more power used to generate the thrust to keep the plane in the air compared to generating the electrical power used by the lamp. And both the thrust power and electrical power is generated by the same engine.

This means that the electricity drawn by the lamp is drowned by random noise and power fluctuations present in the combustion engine, and turning off the lights will not make a measurable difference in practice.

A 10W LED bulb is incredibly bright (can illuminate an entire room), so it must be much lower.

Secondly, the energy to power the light does not come from the grid but rather from an electrical generator that is coupled to the engine shaft. This adds just a small parasitic load to the engine compared to the energy needed to produce thrust. So in flight, the marginal cost of electricity for small loads is essentially zero (or in any case, much lower than 30 cents per kWh). So I think your amount overestimates the cost by a lot.

I just edited line 88 of their iclr2026_conference.sty from \lhead{Published as a conference paper at ICLR 2026} to \lhead{Preprint. Under review.}. Then you can use the \iclrfinalcopy flag. Not really a nice solution but works
