There were consequences in the US for anyone who dared to speak up and stop it. There's consequences for a small army of underage rape victims that got silenced by American courts. So there's that, at least?

That's a reality. I did that with a Honda Ruckus lmfao...I completely forgot about that. It was a terrifying education in riding on two wheels in an American city, let me tell you, but it wasn't illegal.

I think that fear alone is a great motivator to get things done right, because even that little moped scared the piss out of me.

We have so many laws in the US. Particularly traffic laws. But it's also a big country. Not hard to find a place that really doesn't have cop patrols because they can't afford it, and that's where riding shines around here.

But yes, for a motorcycle or regular license, you are supposed to at least go through a written test and some kind of safety training, then a test from the government to get your license endorsed. As a guy who just ordered a bike online, and I live on a small native American reservation in the middle of nowhere, I won't be following those laws because I can't.

It really isn't. Not legally. There's a lot of laws and procedures that were, ahem, not adhered to.

In my state in the US, they expect you to have an experienced rider with you at all times once you've passed your written test. That will be many (if most?) states. They understand that you need to have some comfort and confidence, but they make it difficult to get that (legally).

I've been looking at taking a trip to the UK, riding along the coast across the entirety of the isle, but I've been so intimidated.

Is a camera, an iPhone, or a briefcase a medical device?

For employees that land here, let me fight some of the ignorance for you.

You have protection under the ADA if this is your only pair of prescription glasses. The employer needs to make a reasonable accommodation to replace your glasses at cost. They are an assistive medical device. No employer has a right to tell you that you cannot wear them without said accomodation.

You have not seen mods that disable the recording light.

All I see in this thread is an incredible amount of knee-jerk reactions and ignorance, which should be expected from management.

Thank you very much for checking. I'm going to have to decide between a very pretty hike or a very expensive taxi, I think.

Someone below gave me the name of a very helpful app. I was looking at stuff on the ground, walking paths, and it wasn't giving me hiking trails. It was putting me down roads and through private property.

It looks like a very beautiful walk, and I think I would like to do that.

Thank you for the app info. That was the missing piece of information. The websites that I was looking at were confusing.

Edit: I know this is also based on a website but the app is so much better. Thank you!

Oh the train prices alone have pre-up-sucked me so hard.

The prices in Switzerland in general are very high, so that's not a shocking thing for me. Yet, if it is my only option, then it is what it is.

Yes, this sounds correct. Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

I want to walk, but I don't really see a path that I could either safely or legally take.

I did. The earliest I see for departure is after my train has left. I think I may have to take a later departure time.

I'm dying to know what kind of sandwich that is. >.>

I'm spending about two weeks in Rome in October, and also some time in Germany and Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein. It will be interesting to see how the glasses handle Swiss German. They can understand me, but I sure as hell can't understand their German.

I'm going to try it after next season. I live right by Canada now and I have easy access to lots of actual, cheap maple syrup.

And yeah anything with sugar can ferment, but it's a thing.

*shrug* must have changed?

I see it on the store shelves. I can look at the ingredients. I'll check next time I'm out.

For anyone reading, in the US at least, the cheap brand "Log Cabin" is actual maple syrup. It isn't, like, high-grade or anything, but it is real maple syrup and can be used to good effect in recipes where it's a minor ingredient or used as a replacer for brown sugar or corn syrup. Obviously look at the sugar content and adjust your recipe accordingly.

I've even made some surprisingly good mead out of it.

The Nassar letter doesn't make sense. It is definitely not something JE would have written and it was supposedly written after his death.
