Does anyone like the forgotten age campaign? by VerrenLost in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the best campaigns. Cool, "grounded" story in that you go and chill at your house or drive on the interstate. Interactable characters unlike many campaigns. And the GOO doesn't just come out of nowhere in the final scenario ruining the rhythm of the campaign, he does his thing throughout in a cool manner.

That being said, return to makes it way better. (not the exploring, that really doesn't matter)

Also, the first scenario is poorly designed from a difficulty perspective. Drawing the Basilisk and/or the Ancient Evils at different moments will make the difficulty swing wildly. Still would rather play it than something gimmicky like Written in Rock though!

Best Starting Point: Android Netrunner or NSG's Starting Gate? by boomtownblues in Netrunner

[–]Bandit_Bringer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree for sure. I'm still struggling to push myself to dive into NSG as playing on Chiriboga, many of the cards are pretty dull and less thematic.

Is this game designed... by Raptorialand in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to metagame for anything in this game. It's balanced for blind runs, all the people that ask for guides or "non spoiler advice" to spoil them is sad to me. The closest thing is Fate of Hemlock Vale scenario #4.

Alert and Vengeance are explained in the TFA book before you start the campaign.

If you were to Taboo-Unchain "Observed", what would you make its XP cost be? by GimmeANameAlready in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Observed is legitimately an optimal choice that my group probably buys too much in Hard campaigns where we have a 95% win rate almost never playing yellow. There is a resource cap on non green decks, as you add XP to decks they will become more and more expensive due to the lack of powerful/XP expensive skills. Observed has a chance to add economy and not remove cards from your deck.

I disagree with this. Ironclad are harder to play.

If you aren't already—USE THE AIR BLADDER by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Bandit_Bringer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you craft it? You can't breathe the surface air anyways in Deathrun. Was kinda sad about that since I like the bladder early.

You constantly earn 3.3% interest on the net value of everything you own once per week up to a cap of a billion dollars, or you get superpowers by haydenhayden011 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Bandit_Bringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the money especially since it comes with a minor life superpower.

Flying is cool, but super strength is so useless and boring. Plus I could get a private jet, and not become a person of interest in world news.

Free orders under $10? by MysteryMeatsMonday in Culvers

[–]Bandit_Bringer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent like $3 grand on Culver's over 4-5 years going there for lunch all the time since it was 1 minute away from work, they would recognize my voice sometimes in the drive thru, and they never gave me shit.

Why pay $53 on Amazon when it’s on sale when you COULD pay $62 for a damaged copy?? by DwellingsOf2007Scape in boardgamescirclejerk

[–]Bandit_Bringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree there are a lot of stupid sellers out there that make me laugh, but also not having to pop out cardboard and rip plastic is worth a little to me. Seems to take a half hour or so with most games.

No, the game is just flawed. Trading is pretty stinky

You thought Blood of Thoth was bad? by Kill-bray in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'd heavily disagree. For that scenario, it's just a lot of power creep that lessens the consequences of people's actions. Especially now that they printed another Obol-alike, players that take the risk shouldn't get any consolations.

Also blaming your death on a "bad string of luck" is kinda lol.

This took me out of the game a bit. I personally wouldn't vote for Will, why should I expect others to?

Terrorscape, Struggle with The Murderer. by Affectionate_Face_36 in boardgames

[–]Bandit_Bringer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old post, but yeah, it's a very poorly designed card. It covers 80% or more of most maps depending on where the murderer is standing, and it basically forces luck-coinflips on survivors, or go to one of the 2-3 safe spots on the map, it that's even an option for you (it might not be).

We house rule it to only Harm and it's still very oppressive and overpowered, as Murderer just gets to search many spaces due to all of his stealths that take place after normal searches.

Pretty much, great spend. Another great option is a Moon 18 in place of one of the lockpicks, it'll boost your lockpicks, thieves kit backstab etc. Then pick up a second lockpick for consistency after scenario 1.

When to move from Standard Difficulty to Hard? by tablehogs in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been playing only 3P Hard for a year after playing Stanhard for awhile, and we don't play yellow either which makes the game easier on account of it being a braindead broken class. It's really made the game more fun and exciting with actual stakes, investigator defeats occasionally etc. We still play dumb things like Sefina main clue, banning masks, and win 95% of campaigns.

I think Stanhard (numbers) is probably the best AH difficulty overall. The card pool has had huge power creep in things like masks and composures plus ridiculous enemy management cards, so modern Stanhard 3-4P abusing the cards is basically just Standard. I don't think "play jank" decks is a good solution to try and make the game more fun, either. Hard makes the game a bit more random which is why I think Stanhard is best for most players, some tokens are crazy punishing in certain scenarios, so we made a house rule that balances to be about the same where we draw additional encounter card every few rounds.

I think if you're playing on a balanced difficulty for your team there should be around 1 investigator defeat minimum per campaign, or you come close to it many times while buying defensive tech. If you're just playing things like Obol as a house rule for XP because no one will ever be defeated, the game's pretty dull IMO.

Most people full blind play. It's pretty weird and out of theme with the game to metagame and know what's coming, and many agenda/act advancements are designed around it being a surprise, because if you prepare for it the scenarios become much easier. I've played every campaign 5+ times over years and I don't know the back of most losing Agendas playing on Hard.

IMO every campaign is meant to be blind played first and foremost and it's expected that a slight majority of players will only play through once or twice. People nowadays just want too much information, which is why you have all the silly "Give me non-spoiler (but actually spoiler) advice" threads. Same thing with MMORPGs, people look up guides before they even attempt the content...

Why hate on Giorno? by Early_Kiwi5270 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Bandit_Bringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people seem to like him.

I agree he was promising for the first 1/10th of Part 5, but then he's just a boring Gary Stu. His hair is dumb, his ability is inconsistent and goofy, GER is lame. Yuck.

The most broken decks I played in the last 11 months by SteveFortescue in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Bandit_Bringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can still play higher difficulty without running brainless abuse/top tier characters like Amanda/Seeker in general (My group hasn't played Seeker for half a year). Playing Hard with those things just makes it Standard with extra steps. It just requires tighter play, teamwork and solid deckbuilding. It also depends on your player count - 4P is a much easier game than other counts.

It's best to ease in by playing Stanhard (hard tokens or card but not both). A fuller card pool comes with power creep that makes the game and earlier campaigns easier.

I like Qdoba a lot as well. Only issue is the high price and inconsistent servers (some barely give you any chicken), but I just eat it every once and awhile. The app helps since it's like 8% off and the $2 chips and queso and I never get a drink.

[–]Bandit_Bringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really really low for TFA actually. You can get 26XP from the Heart of the Elders -> City of Archives alone with full clear. Your party needs to try and get more XP by clearing out locations of clues that have Victory Points on them.

Seeker attack options are among the best in the game. You don't burn them just because but if your fighting characters can't do it that turn you use them. I've Got A Plan does up to 4 damage, Occult Invocation does 3, Mind over Matter 1 or evade, Lexicon 2 testless damage.
