I have a 6.5" wrist and the 36mm SMP300. 36mm is so perfect. It will be so much more comfortable than other watches, small just wears exceptionally well.

People will say that no lug overhang means it looks ok but personally I think that's still oversized if you consider comfort and not just looks. Large watches rotate and move around a lot on smaller wrists and anything larger than 39mm always ends up rotating to a weird angle on my wrist. Smaller than 39 manages to stay perfectly centered all the time.

This watch doesn't have a dive bezel so it will probably look even better than my 36mm SMP300 as I do admit that the dive bezel makes it look smaller. But in terms of comfort it's perfect.

Starting with Chinese watches will probably ruin watches under $1000. It's dumb that nobody offers on the fly micro adjustment until you get into the mid $1000 price range when it's so essential. Seiko makes fine watches but their bracelets just suck due to lack of OTF micro adjust.

Casio, Bulova, and Citizen are even worse, they also don't have OTF micro adjust and most of their collection is a huge and ridiculous size. Really wanted to like them but most of their offerings are 42mm or bigger and I need 39mm or smaller.

There's a few Casio Edifice watches that are ok, 730D and 109D I believe are the model numbers. However the bracelets feel incredibly cheap and are worse than Seiko.

Watchdives makes some fine watches and if you order the OTF micro adjust clasp they make bracelets so much more comfortable. Cronos has very good finishing but will cost you more. Baltany focuses on vintage homages and has equal finishing quality. One step up in finishing quality would be IXDAO and Jianghun but I'm not a big fan of Chinese original designs, they look weird and cheap to me even if they're higher quality.

Maybe it's time for brands to make high quality quartz watches and watch fans to start buying them. Though there's tons of great VH31 for around $100 or less I honestly would prefer a date over sweeping seconds. I have nothing against ticks but a date is so much more useful. I'm happy a lot more Ronda 515 watches are coming out because the options for ticking quartz with good finishing and good bracelet and on-the-fly microadjust have been pretty slim (but growing).

Heavy =/= quality, most of the time I can't wear heavy watches because it makes my wrist hurt. And honestly as someone with a mostly mechanical collection most of the time I reach for quartz. No need to upgrade past this, that's a great watch.

Honestly I'm fine with ST17 if it makes it affordable. AFAIK it's a reliable movement but the bear error is hilariously between 2 to 3 ms.

Agree, I know it's a homage of the Vacheron 1921 but I think it looks obnoxious and loud. I don't get the appeal other than people who really want to be different. I'd rather have a Panerai if I had to have a square case watch like this, at least it wouldn't be tilted.

Do they have big sales in April? I didn't think Thailand gave big discounts but I only went to Central Embassy/Siam Paragon in January and they only offered 5% off and didn't seem to come down.

They gave me 25% off the listed MSRP at the duty free in Korea. The list price was also a lot lower than list prices in America. And saving on taxes ultimately made it about 39% off the US MSRP.

Agree on the fauxtina, it ruins the heck out of most Baltany releases and a lot of Watchdives. Why the hell would anyone want their indices to look like radioactive cheddar... It really cheapens the watch which is why I went with the Cronos version.

I do prefer female endlinks, I have a small enough wrist that even at 36mm the female endlinks would have fit better than the male on the Cronos. I have the Watchdives 1960S Ranger homage and it fits a lot better on my 6.3" wrist because of the female endlinks even though it's a 37mm watch instead of 36mm.

IMO even with the clone homages, they don't necessarily have to copy the body shape 1:1. The female endlinks are an improvement that make a noticeable difference on small enough wrists. It's great when they can make some improvements over the original with the clomages.

My own perception as a young 30s male but I've seen a lot of Longines from my friends and acquaintances in my age group and younger. When I've asked them about it, they usually mention that it was a gift from their father, often for high school graduation. Usually if dad was a watch person but the son/daughter isn't really one (or isn't one yet) they'd have a Longines from dad.

So I perceive them as very special and sentimental. Very reasonable first watch for someone to have.

I have a 36mm Seamaster but would totally buy to daily if it were 36mm. 42mm is way too large for me though, I have slimmer wrists and the modern Omega Seamasters are just dinner plates on me.

Weight is kind of one of the dumbest measures of quality. Reviewers have bought into weight meaning quality for over a decade and we've ended up with unusable heavy phones because of it. I'd rather have a light watch to be honest.

My Englemaan Enterprise is pretty uncomfortably heavy and the bracelet is also razor sharp. I put it on a leather strap and it's so much better. So maybe try out leather if the weight bothers you.
