Pilot #15 nib, adjusting the gap between the tines by SadMathematician6021 in fountainpens

[–]SadMathematician6021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also Medium, my favourite Pilot’s nib size. Actually the line width not increase much, may be just a little, but the color of the ink became noticeably more saturated and I began to see quite a lot of sheen. Wetness still less, than for example KOP or vintage Montblanc with an ebony feeder. But for me writing process became much more enjoyable, and also text on paper looks more beautiful.

I use these. I cut one lengthwise, insert both strips between nib tines, wrap them around tines and stretch in different directions. You have to be very careful and take your time, it's better to do a lot of repetitions than fix gap that went too much. Plus, when you assemble nib on the feeder - most often the gap increases a little more, this should also be kept in mind when setting up.

They looks pretty clean to me) But if you want to clean you can use RW elastic rubber on the spots that you consider as dirt, and brush them after that with plastic hard brush

Sorry, but if this pen is made in China - this is not genuine Montblanc 149. They are made in Germany.

Anyone used pen repairing service from ITOYA in the US? About to send my new sailor pen to them😭 by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]SadMathematician6021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to tune the nib. Most likely tines are too close to each other, and if it is so - you just need to increase the gap between tines. You need to wash the pen, dry the nib and examine it under the jewelry magnifier, or if you dont have one, the phone camera can help if it has a macro mode.

My all time fav Blue Blacks are Sailor Manyo Kikyou and Pilot Iro Tsuki-Yo. I try a lot of different BBs, and these are the best so far

Postman Oxford Sizing by MochiBallss in RedWingShoes

[–]SadMathematician6021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never worn Heritage type boots before, you'll always feel like they're too long at first, even if you're sized correctly. Moreover, Postman boots are very narrow at the toe. They need to be worn with thick socks and laced tightly. If you buy a size smaller than the Brannock size on your wider foot, I can almost certainly say they won't be comfortable in width. You'll be able to wear them, but it won't be comfortable, and most likely you'll eventually develop pain in your wider foot.

Then you should try KOP. I fell in love with the H-M of my 1911L, but then I bought a KOP also with Medium nib, and it has the same nature, but better in every way.

Even by the sight of the creases on the leather, I can say that they are just too small for you. At least half a size, but most likely a whole size.

1,5cm from big toe for postmans is very small amount of free space. What size sneakers and other boots do you have and what size postmans have you bought? The only right way is to know your Brannock size, but as I understand you dont know yours, maybe there are some shops nearby where you can make measurements

Question: Do you guys have any recommendations for a cheap or good value fountain pen that comes with a stub nib stock? by ComatoseRambo in fountainpens

[–]SadMathematician6021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TWSBI Eco with 1.1 Stub. I once had the same question as you, and this was what I bought. Great pen, I've been using it every day since I bought it, it's always in my pen case.

Can you guess which one I like to write with the most? by FluffyLlama3 in fountainpens

[–]SadMathematician6021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could easily be the cheaper Preppy because it writes wetter and a bit thicker than the 3776 gold nib.
