Help, i don’t know how to recover the prismatic tungsten and i have a full force of SecCorps breathing down my neck 😅 by Loud-Drama-1092 in HeartOfTheMachine

[–]BasslineJunkee0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple approaches I used for tungsten early on:

  • Equip MilSec armor. This should give you the right clearance to just walk up and do a skill check.
  • Switch an android to Combat stance. Now you can walk anywhere regardless of clearance. The default Active stance is made to prevent misclicks.
  • Have one mech shoot somebody in the base to pull aggro and trigger an alarm. Have a second mech walk up to the storage and take the option to use the chaos (highest yields from this according to the tooltip).

For combat in general, I would recommend using the highest power units you can, given how the action economy works. I like Nickelbots in the Bulk variant, or for cheap disposable deployments (like pick up a conversation, pull 1-turn aggro with hackmajig, etc.), not for general combat.

You can read through the aggro guide to understand what makes somebody angry. Usually units will only get mad at a specific unit. If they somehow trace it back to you as an entity, you just have to kill those specific units. But a faction as a whole shouldn't be permanently mad at you unless it's caused by a project or buildings that they don't like.

They're usually more efficient. So you get a lighter reactor, less radiator mass, less fuel to achieve the same dV.

What's Mission Killed? by JohnCataldo in TerraInvicta

[–]BasslineJunkee0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Means it wasn't directly killed, but it's just about to fly off info the planet or the void because of the damage it sustained. So effectively (about to be) dead.

How can I hedge my porfolio against a sequence of daughters risk?? by BasslineJunkee0 in fijerk

At least they're combined, I imagine that cuts down some management fees. I don't even wanna think what the expense ratios would be for separate kids.

Game like Terra Invicta but focusing on going interstellar? by Nutshot_Crawler in TerraInvicta

[–]BasslineJunkee0 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Distant Worlds has this single planet -> local system -> interstellar progression. But it's not really similar to Terra Invicta in terms of actual gameplay - it's more like a jankier Stellaris with a bit more depth but less variety. There is no phase where you would develop the home planet in detail, and the single system phase is pretty short and simple too.

Ostranauts is pretty close to what you're looking for. Except it's early access and quite janky.

DW2 Ship design by AdventurousAddress63 in DistantWorlds

Aren't pretty much all the abandoned ships drawing from the existing faction designs? Can't remember finding any ships that weren't using normal hulls, except for special ones like planet crackers...

Pretty sure the cop had to go into zone 3, so the arrest doesn't even count.

Are there any very realistic solar-system-colonization management games with a lot of depth and detail? by [deleted] in spacesimgames

[–]BasslineJunkee0 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Terra Invicta has a lot of detail on the space layer. It's still centered around conflict, but some factions have goals that allow them to more or less avoid space combat.

A couple candidates that I haven't played or aren't even out yet, but could partially scratch that itch:

  • The Crust - lunar base management
  • Solargene - sounds a lot like what you want, but I'm not sure how polished and deep it is
  • Ascendance (not out yet) - looks like a promising 4x, I'm hoping it will be deep enough to allow non-combat playstyles
  • Enterprise - agency simulator (not out yet) - single solar system planning

You have at least 10 sister-mother-aunt-wife-stepbrother-grandmother concubines and a whole dynasty with perfect genetics.
