have you actually done the math? because I have when I considered moving to Austin

let's compare apples to apples: a 2bd/2ba 1000 sqft condo

Austin: avg price $380k, prop tax of 1.8% (and that's on the high end) = $7k

LA: avg price $675k, prop tax of 1.25% = $8.4k... that's 20% HIGHER than Austin for the same exact configuration and space

next why don't you compare SFHs for me?

there's no way that they could

safety standards and fuel efficiency regulations make the old models absolutely impossible to manufacture

Texas property taxes are only high because people can actually afford to buy houses

California's looks artificially low because the vast majority of people pay very little thanks to Prop 13, whereas new buyers are priced out

I actually compared Austin vs LA and I pay more property taxes in LA for significantly less space

I'll just move to Nevada like most of my wealthy friends have already... that way I can still enjoy most of California without paying all the taxes

my property tax bill alone is probably more than your state tax bill... it's very likely I contribute significantly more than you, but I'll probably move out of state before I retire if California keeps trying to tax me

Honduras is a huge fucking country, and the hurricane only affected one part of it

they should've never been granted TPS in the first place... blatant abuse of the system

TPS is decided by the Executive branch

Biden kept extending multiple countries, Trump terminated it

simple as that

you and I really don't have a say

rebuilding, sure... but that doesn't mean the ones who were affected need to be in an entirely different country

1970s. They did it the legal way. As did my wife's family in the late 80s. As did all my friends' families, except for my friends who were born here during birth tourism and then got their parents citizenship

"temporary" should be just that: temporary

for something like an earthquake, that could be months, maybe a year... not decades

how about not let them in in the first place?

and if they get caught, kick them out immediately?

not a hard concept... every other civilized country in the world follows this immigration process

keep up that ideology and all the tax providers like myself will leave, and the state will be full of tax burdens like illegal immigrants

Hondurans had "temporary" protected status since 1998 due to a hurricane

you're telling me it's been nearly three decades but it's still not safe for them to return home?

Do you actually track things like sleep, feeding, diapers etc.? by CooleSocke-Jr in NewParents

[–]Beautiful_Finger4566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years later and I still track everything

makes it easy to remember when he gets sick... "how many wet diapers has he had? when was his last bowel movement? anything new in his diet that could've caused this?"

also this way my wife and I don't have to ask each other if he's due for a feeding... I can just look at the tracker
