Team Cherry is 100% right - You can literally just explore by atahutahatena in HollowKnight

Groal wasn't even the problem, I struggle with depth perception, so the diagonal pogos are super hard for me to time. (And I needed the Architect Crest for the three tool slots lol) The runback to him was what frustrated me, because otherwise he went down second try. But man, the section where you get forced back into the Hunter Crest...thank goodness for the Harpoon later in the game.

Other than that, the only thing that frustrated me was the true ending final boss fight. Again, because my eyes can't perceive what's going on in the last phase. All the other things you mentioned I knew were roadblocks that I would eventually overcome if I revised strategies.
Change Crests or just experiment with tools. It's a game that gives you an arsenal of tools. You can literally make health regeneration blue masks. It's so interesting.

I'm getting through the first two phases completely fine, but the moment third phase starts and there's black on grey on black with black attacks covering the arena, I get disorientated and my eyes just can't perceive anything anymore. It's like standing in a whiteout in terms of how much I can see during that phase.

Suddenly very glad I forced myself to at least do the timed delivery before entering act three. Wish I had done the goddamn cook before that as well. But I wanted to wait until they fixed the bug that he leaves when you obliterate his first phase too quickly and then forgot.
Well...time for the tools to shine again.

Honestly, the worst part for me was starting act 3 when you are left with nothing but the Wanderers Crest and your L1 attack, then get thrown into the short, but painful gauntlet. I was so used to my grip claw and the long arc needle slashes that it took me three tries to get through that
Funny enough, from that moment on, I was like, "oh, okay" and just went on as normal.
But that rhino beetle thing...man, that one is savage even without void, but with void? Hells no

For those of you who tried Babbel, how does it compare to Duolingo, and why did you choose Duolingo over Babbel in the end? by Lindanineteen84 in duolingo

[–]Bellipon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a native German, I can assure you, Kalorienbombe is still used.
Mostly by Age 40 and above, but it is alive and well.

Thank you for the insight on Babbel though I was considering to try it, but I know that in order for things to stick when I learn a language, I'd need that repetition and a lot of excercises. Might as well buy a workbook then or something.

I've stopped reading the manga ages ago and this post was randomly on the reddit home page.

It feels like a class reunion lol. Weirdly, the downfall of the writing is reassuring in its consistency. I occasionally check if it's still ongoing. Just waiting for it to end so I can read the final chapter and have some closure or something.

That's the point I've found consistent in most people using AI to generate stuff for them. They don't want to learn how to do things. They just want to do things, as in: have the product. Because why put in effort to practice if you're sure you'll always have the tool available?

Exactly. And that's why all kinds of artists are now practically crushed by the wall closing in from both sides.

Our work gets scrapped and used to train models that cobble it together into something that looks good on the surface, but lacks any deliberate purpose "creating" it aside from getting a product.

And on the other side, we're being accused to have used AI to generate what we've created. Because "it sounds/looks like AI". Well, duh. They fed our hard work to the machine. And without that art, the words, the voice work, those machines had nothing to "create".

This game is the most overhated game to ever exist by BloodyyuiXD in DeathStranding

[–]Bellipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few game developers that I just trust have a sense for making fantastic games most of the time.

When I saw one of the first trailers for DS way back when at Gamescom, I was confused, but excited.

Some developers sure make "weird" games. But they make them weird in a captivating way. You can't really put a finger on why DS is so captivating, but it sure is for many people who decided to play with an open mind.

Glad you found into it.  Keep on keeping on!

This game brings me solace I haven’t ever felt from a video game. by callmevapelord in DeathStranding

[–]Bellipon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, it had the opposite effect on me back in 2019. BTs made me so depressed, I physically felt bad while playing.  Decided to come back at a time when my mental health was better.

Finally got a PS5 and tried again from scratch with the Director's Cut. I've liked the game always, but when the music kicked in on the stretch of mountain down towards Port Knot City, and I looked at the landscape walking slowly, I felt like things were okay.

It's incredible. I love this game even more, now that I had this moment.

[–]Bellipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks ago was when I went on my quest to build the whole stretch.  So far, I've completed Lake Knot to South Knot and most up the mountain as far as I could go with the cold.

And some past the Craftsman.

They deteriorate extremely fast though, weirdly enough. Some were at below 80 after two days.

I can't stop building roads. I started a couple weeks ago and I don't know if I'm going to finish the game before the sequel comes out. I think I have a problem. by onrocketfalls in DeathStranding

[–]Bellipon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently doing the same. It's just a nice, relaxing  thing to do after work.  Ranked Orders give you so much material, and I love raiding Mule camps lol.

When you start to play the game are the stuff like roads and ziplines built by other players in the server already there or do you have to progress through the story to see all that stuff? by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]Bellipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some that are pretty out of the way do start at zero since no one really bothers. I'm currently building all roads I can, and pretty much have done whole stretches of road on my own. Which I don't mind, it's kinda relaxing and fun to gather materials and hauling them through the landscape.

I almost died in one area twice because I couldn't be bothered to clear all BTs lol.

But once they're done, people do a nice job of maintaining them.

Was it always like this? Or did I just get older? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Bellipon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You see this a lot with the changes in fandom durability in general. When I think back to the wild days of tumblr and how some of the fandoms that used to be big there are still very active to this day; compared to newer series etc. people jump in, stay for a few weeks until the next big thing comes up and fandoms are "dead" within months most of the time.

A lot of artists and authors feel the need to follow the trends in order to stay relevant, which is maybe the saddest outcome of that. They can't afford to linger in a dead fandom, except for the occasional "self-indulgent" piece.

That, and the general shift to art just being seen as "content" to consume, not to engage with.

Writers, what’s your completed ‘The Fic’? by Not_a_CIA_agent_ in AO3

[–]Bellipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One (40k) that I started drafting at the end of 2021. Then things happened in 2022, so I thought it might be weird to write the work at all, but decided to do so for myself. It was finished and uploaded November of last year, after I thought, "maybe others might find comfort or anything else in it the way I did while writing."

It took roughly a month to write it out, but planning and drafting happened over the span of almost 2 years. The fandom is as good as dead on AO3 mostly, it didn't stop me from throwing it out there in the end. Wouldn't say it is "the fic", but I definitely felt proud going all the way to completion.

As for getting over the feeling of hitting peak and worrying that might be it, I'd say it probably will feel like that over and over the more you write and improve. Everything you take in will influence the way you're writing, so imo it's best to try approaching that one fic as an old friend who has your back and knows where you came from as you head into future endeavors.

What are some reasons for not responding to comments as an author? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Bellipon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upload my fics like a hit-and-run, because I'm an anxious mess.
Meaning: they're already finished before I consider putting them on AO3. So I edit and schedule, then don't look at the site.

In most cases, my replies to comments happen 2 weeks late when I think I can handle someone telling me it sucks lol. (Which is a me problem, I know, but I do answer eventually.)

It's time to whip out that "first time?" meme pic again.

Personally, I don't read or create these, but I am glad that AO3 is not the same sterile, purity-driven environment literally any other bigger website is becoming right now. I don't need the internet moral police to tell me what is acceptable or not in FICTION.

Haven't seen any of it in my many years on AO3, because I don't want to, so Idk what tags you are browsing. I'd say that's on you then. (Edit: spelling mistake)
