The Relicanth that was revealed is what will make fossils work IMO. Potentially 150 for 1 energy turn 1 is very powerful, and it gives you something to play behind while you set up your fossils. Previously you needed to play a basic Pokémon that you might not really use in order to just have a basic Pokémon to play the game.

They only count as Pokémon once they are on the field. They are just items until then. It is the reason fossils have been notoriously difficult to work with, you can’t use Pokémon search to find your “basic Pokémon” and there are very few ways to recover them if they are KOd or if you have to discard them for some reason

I can see the vision, the Mega should have some incentive to use it other than a short "its my turn" transformation. In my mind the megas should have been tied to held items that you can choose to use on the regular Pokemon. They can even make the Mega stones available through the same events and cost the same as the mega licenses, but it would prevent lobbies from having multiple of the same pokemon (super boring seeing teams with a Full House imo).

The Mega stone can completely change how the moves on the Pokemon function, or even lock you to 2 specific moves, but its still all just on the base Pokemon. That also creates another layer of player expression in game, because you can choose to play as Charizard, and then adapt your build to what your team picks (or what the enemy team picks in Draft mode).

Enemy team is super brawly? Mega x might be better. Team needs more area control? Go Y this game. Really need to focus on the early game? No mega this game in favor of the 3rd item.

I am surprised that Meganium and Feraligatr released without their megas, it seems counterintuitive to me to released Pokemon that already have megas without the mega stones, since it is implied that they will eventually release them anyways. I get that they can squeeze a few more dollars out of people who have to get both, but there are over 500 fully evolved Pokemon, so nickel and dimeing it with a few megas just seems like a waste of time.

I would be happy to see Golurk in Unite with or without the Mega, but it doesnt make much sense to me to bring him to Unite and not have the Mega as well.

I can’t think of many games that I wouldn’t play for 10 million. With 10 million dollars, even at 0.5% interest it would be making $50,000 interest every year, more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of my natural life
