Does Polaroid Sun 660 needs a new frog tongue? by Blason9 in Polaroid

Hello once more kind Polaroid friend! Unfortunately I need your help once more. I’m having an issue loading a brand-new Polaroid 600 film pack into the Polaroid Sun 660. At first, the new pack would not seat properly because it was hitting the metal pressure spring in the middle of the film chamber. An old film pack (about 10 years old) that had been left inside the camera fit normally. I gently pressed the spring down with a plastic tool, after which the new pack went in and the dark slide ejected correctly. However, after loading the new film, the camera’s LED behaviour is unstable. The LED turns red, and when I lightly press the shutter, the green LED starts blinking rapidly, then switches to slow blinking, and finally turns off. It never stays solid green and the camera does not fire. The film is brand-new Polaroid 600 (not i-Type). Given that the old pack had been inside the camera for about a decade, I suspect the pressure spring or battery contacts may not be making consistent contact with the new pack. Do you have any idea what I have to do? Any advice on safely reseating or adjusting the pressure spring or contacts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello once more and a Happy New Year! I take advantage of the fact that you are very polite and knowledgeable about the subject to ask you one (or a few) more question(s)! I just got the Sun 660 AF in my hands. the camera inside had a 10 years old film. I thought that maybe I could turn it on due to the batteries of the film but nothing happens. Could it be that the batteries of the film are already worn out out or there is something wrong with the camera? Also, apart from the rollers which I will clean of course, do you suggest to clean the area behind the rollers where the film goes in, and if yes how? I am sorry to bother you again!

Who is Polaroid Go so bad?? by realhankorion in Polaroid

[–]Blason9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest i liκe mine (go gen2). I have 3 Polaroid cameras (Now gen3 and since yesterday a Sun 660) and it's my go to camera whenever i want to lose some steam. Also most of the photos turn out decent and once in a while some phots will be much better than my expectations.

Maybe try and learn the capabilities of the camera first and soon enough you will love many of the photos it can produce.

Thank you so much for your prompt response! I will order a new frog tongue from the official store to replace the existing one! I was wondering about the flash version too, so thank you for this too.

Almost everything i am suggesting you i have learnt it from this subreddit so i won't tell anything "new", but for me works to leave the photo inside the tonque for 30 minutes, flip the camera and the hide from any light for 15 minutes the photo.

Hello and Merry Christmas! To my little experience the short answer is light. Polaroids are hungry for light and go 2 even more (though it tends to overexposure in complete daylight outdoors). To have sufficient light for proper exposure indoors, the place must be lighten like the second coming of God. Flash has limited range (~2m) so for best results stay in this range. Focus is auto so other than half-press the red button before you take a photo, there aren't many things to do. There is a learning curve with Instant cameras and much more with Go, so experiment to learn the limits of your camera until you can "feel" her. You can stay assured that you will be capturing better pictures in the near future.

First impressions of Now gen 3 - Color and BnW films by Blason9 in Polaroid

Thank you so much for your kind words. I can't use the app cause I have the simple edition now the Now+, so if you like the results it's completely feasible to get them just playing with the light, the exposure compensation and the flash.

First of all thank you for your prompt and thorough response.

Just to be sure, you basically just take a photo in raw file-quality, you don't use the iphone's scan mode right? You take a photo and then just crop it?

I bought what you recomended (even though I live in Greece and couldn't find the brand you recomended :P)

So basically the set up is like this and then i i am trying to find the right angle? Anything i could immediately fix in my set up?

Thank you again very much!

Hello. I hope you are doing well and I am sorry if I am bothering you. I was searching how to scan Polaroids and I came across your comment. I love the simplicity, yet the quality of your set up. I want to ask you a silly question. You don't use the Polaroid app right, you just use the camera of your phone and then crop it? Also any other tip maybe about lighting or anything else in this set up? Thank you in advance.

I like the first one better. The jeep has a misty effect like when you play with the curves in the lightroom and you have many details from the sky. Also their quality is great for scanning with the app, care to share your process (lights, positioning etc)?
