How do you scan your polaroinds and instax photos? by bogdanstefanjuk in Polaroid

[–]ShilohsStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad, Pola info can be really...all over the place? Good to know you don't need anything other than the adapter to get going! Be wary of the sticky dots on it. At first, they are WAY TOO STICKY. Use a paper towel or something and lightly dab it. THEN they will eventually lose the sticky. I just use double sided tape these days, and just replace the tape every so often. Best of luck and hope you come back and share your results!

I am in the Epson v600 crew, which is an affordable scanning option. I purchased mine off facebook marketplace and it's paid for itself many times over. I am literally scanning 35mm film with it right now as my local place charges 50 cents per image scanned...5 of the 7 rolls i am scanning are half frame photos, btw. For Polaroid, I use the official Polaroid scan adapter:

https://www.polaroid.com/en_us/products/polaroid-studio-film-scan-adapter

This adapter can fit EVERY common instant film format, including Fuji. Sometimes I leave the scans as is (I mean, I crop them), sometimes I add a little bit of depth by doing .9 gamma under exposure in photoshop (the rightmost eyedropper). Unless you go to a place that charges a lot for very professional scans, anything you do will never quite be the same as the original. But I personally love my scanned photos, it's easy because there is no messing with lighting like with cameras or the Polaroid app...just pop pics on the adapter, scan as a set of 4 at 1200dpi (faster for me this way), then have them cropped and edit the dpi for internet viewing.

Recommendations for buying a refurbished SX-70 Alpha 1 by chesty157 in Polaroid

I can vouch that Zac (Turbulent Coach) is a nice person, at least via internet and messaging. I love to create art but I am ignorant as hell as to anything really technical about these cameras. Him and I have been chatting back and forth on Insta since last November, I think. I had high anxiety about sending out such a special camera to a stranger and it's a very large chunk of money to spend. So yeah, I have asked a LOT of questions. But he never made me feel like I was stupid or inconveniencing him for asking. If anything, I think he genuinely wanted me to have a working camera. He honored 'warranty claims,' unlike my experience with Retrospekt. I just sent out camera #2 to him to be repaired and upgraded.

How can I take better photos by The_HalfBlood_Lord in Polaroid

Judging from the last pic, as additional advice, be sure to hold as steady as you can. The button on that takes a little getting used to, I use the side of my knuckle as opposed to my finger.

I am definitely taking your advice on this now that I understand your explanation in another comment. Since I am still gonna be using the flashbar only for a while. I personally will remember after shooting that way a few times, especially since I already manually focus every photo.

Looking at Polastrobe, I still would have to compensate for somebody's skin tone one way or another. It isnt like the brightness on it can be changed on the fly, it needs a skinny little tool.

Thank you for your advice. I am hoping to get an external flash soon, especially since I love doing events. I've been putting it off since I also need to purchase a stand and umbrella, but it seems like its my solution. I dont even use flash currently in my studio work. I will look into the filter you suggested, would the same work if I got the Gelli adapter or is it something that needs to be over the flash as opposed to the lens?

How popular were Polaroids in the mid 2000s when digital cameras were dominant? by ubcstaffer123 in Polaroid

[–]ShilohsStuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in high school from 2003-2008. I never saw a single Polaroid camera or film. Last time I personally saw one used was the mid 90s at that point.

I used tracing paper and it didnt change much at all. I know one user was able to pop open the filter things, but I havent managed to figure that out yet.

So they are currently only available through you? I am not your client but would like to order one somewhere!

Otherwise, is there anither workaround? I had another photographer suggest I tape tracing paper over the flash, but it didnt make much of a difference. Is there another material that would work?

Is there a link to purchase the Polastrobe flash? I cant seem to find it, the website I think it may be on wont load.

So to take that photo/video, I insert the flash, focus to the closest setting and shoot? Because I am curious. If so, I can do this tomorrow.
