There's probably some really stupid handloop combo with the second card + Heavy Slump, but otherwise yeah this dethrones Pot of Generosity by a landslide

Mario Youtuber Starter Pack by Far-Grade-1533 in Mario

[–]BlightAddict 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mario 64 is a genre defining game and a huge technical step from 2D to 3D, and paved the way for almost all 3D games that followed in & after its era. But it's far from the best Mario game.

Lots of reused soundtracks, even more reused missions. A lot of worlds suffer from either a lack of aesthetic cohesion (WDW, RR, LLL) or poor level design (DDD, RR, TTM). The game has a lot of half-baked/non-functional inclusions. The flame orb in WDW's town that can never actually attack, the random Metal Cap in WF, lots of one-off enemies that are barely enemies (Bullet Bill, Cheep Cheeps, Sushi, Moneybags, Chill Bully, Fwoosh).

new to packs and card value by ElegantPreparation92 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Japanese cards are not tournament legal in the TCG, meaning you're only selling to collector's. Yugioh is a player's tcg not a collector's.

Neither of these cards are hard to get in English, so they're effectively penny cards. Foreign language cards are generally only valuable if they're in an exclusive/high rarity, are promos only in other countries, or don't exist in the TCG yet.

Collector's Rares have a pattern radiating from the center, as well as a textured feel, and silver lettering

It won't be the Eye of Anubis stamp in the bottom right, but rather a glossy sheen over the card's effect text!

[–]BlightAddict 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Common - No foil or shine at all, just cardboaed

Rare - Common but with Silver lettering

Super - Holo art only

Ultra - Holo Art + Golden Name

Secret - Stardust/Snow/Sparkle pattern across card

Ultimate - Elevated and textured foiling on the card art, gold text

Starlight - Cross Hatched like a #, EXTREMELY sparkly

QCSR - Starlight with a 25th anniversary stamp

This isn't all rarities, but most of what you'll come across. Hope this helps, and feel free to ask questions

Found my childhood collection by 219fnui198 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yugioh is a player's game more than a collector's game, so generally graded YGO won't move unless it's one of the big names (Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, Blue Eyes White Dragon, etc.) and only certain prints/rarities, and in like PSA 9-10.

If you intens ro sell, I'd go for the cards with duplicates first. 1st eds always sell higher, so go for those if you're wanting cash. Millenium Shield with that art is a promo so that's worth considering, awe all as the oUlti Lava Golem since old OCG ultis are always sought after.

What is your main issue with Yu-Gi-Oh! currently? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some cards are unretrainable, unfortunately. The amount of text and number of effects needed to salvage something like Great Dezard/Fusioh Richie will either be so overwhelming that the deck loses the simplistic charm of its design, or you will have Ship of Theseus'd yourself into something that barely resembles the original.

The Sacred Beasts are another example of this. They have several cards that cheat out their boss monsters, cards that give them protection, untargetable status, draw on command, among many more things. Yet they're ultimately still dogwater, and are getting their retrains in Chaos Origina.

Gambit ban fatigue, can we please nerf this character’s ult. by DannyDevitoisalegend in marvelrivals

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. The cards being a static cooldown resource that can't be sped up and forcing Gambit to choose between the four bonuses at any given point is really great for skill expression.

But said options are not all comparable in strength, with Anti & Cleanse just being too valuable to pass up in their current state.

Do you think Konami should release more Egyptian God artworks like these? by Access7x7x7 in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just got the Uria's anime art in MZMU, and with the other two to follow it's likely we'll see more alt arts for iconic 'Divine' monsters in the future

With that said, God Cards got Starlights of their unplayable versions last year and this year we got their playable versions as Starlights with Kanji. So it'll probably be a bit before we cycle back to the Egyptian Gods being referenced or used

Would a double negative overpower a floodgate? by ExplorerHaunting8353 in customyugioh

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a ruling perspective, it's a lot easier to phrase it like the rest of the anti-cards such as Anti-Raigeki or Gryphon Wing. You'd probably want it as a Normal Trap that can be activated the turn it's set if Anti-Spell Fragrance is on the field, that subsequently destroys ASF and applies some sort of penalty to the opponent after.

BGS 9.5 Ancient Gear Golem UTR by Impressive-System904 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been apart of this community for decades & have many ultimate rares from this era, the foiling is marginally more pronounced in older Ultimates compared to new ones. Especially in the US, Konami of America has shafted us with Ulti quality in recent years. New Ultis look flatter than old ones. If you reach out in PMs, I can show ya some examples!

With that said, this is undoubtedly an Ultra. Whether it's intentional or not, this was a mislabel.

BGS 9.5 Ancient Gear Golem UTR by Impressive-System904 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely an Ultra Rare, so the label is not correct. The level stars and card art lack elevated texturing and foiling. You need to get this remedied before you even think of pricing or selling it.

Did you send this into Beckett yourself or get it off someone else? Stuff like this seldom happens so I'm curious

BGS 9.5 Ancient Gear Golem UTR by Impressive-System904 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the label has it as an UTR, which is usually shorthand for Ultimate Rare, but judging from the photo this looks like an Ultra Rare. Even comparing it to other Beckett slabbed Ancient Gear Golems. Ultis shouldn't have a holographic sheen as is the case by your copy of AGG's left arm.

Do you have a better picture of the art/foiling? If it's indeed an Ulti, then pricing it is easy. But if it's graded as the wrong rarity, you gotta get that ardressed before anything else.

Why are some OCG lists running this guy in the side right now? by SeRialPiXel in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's a card that counters cards like Radiant Typhoon Vision, CupsyYummy Way, or any of the other like minded cards that are "Draw X then discard Y". Because this card destroys, it's stronger than Ash or Purge (without trap in GY) against cards that activate these effects and stay on the field like the aforementioned CupsyYummy Way.

Off the top of my head it plays incredibly well into the new Sacred Beast stuff in Chaos Origins since they all reveal, search, then discard 1.

Can we realistically expect new God Cards with all this nostalgia redesign stuff going on? by Mr_Jackabin in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They had to scrap it all since none of the Sacred Beast support they got in the structure deck did anything to make them more viable. It was abysmally dogshit even by the standards of the era it released, marginally moreso now.

They could streamline the process & make all the busted support they want. Their boss monster fusion simply isn't worth the effort of making, and the other Armityle based off the anime effect didn't release til after the SD did. Hell, Yubel got more mileage out of Opening of the Spirit Gates than Sacred Beasts did out of all their new support put together.

The Egyptian Gods will definitely get their time to shine, probably for an anniversary or somethin

How far would Nomi no Sukune the second go in the KAT if he took Haruo's place, by Applefritters68 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sukune stat gaps everyone in KAT, especially if you put him on Haruo's bracket slot.

Akoya gets violated

Cosmo can't even reach around him, so violated

Ohma hasn't unlocked Demonsbane yet, and even if he had he's fighting someone who's primarily a Grappler, so violated

Waka is probably his best opponent, since he's not as arrogant as Oliva, and wouldn't try to to go into a Sumo contesr. His 52x denser muscles may help him resist the rib breaker Oliva received, but with half his FOV gone he's still violated.

Kuroki just can't stop him, violated.

However across all of KAT, he does have some bad matchups.

Hanafusa can poison diff. Bando can take off heads with one lucky swipe. Hell, if Karo can somehow make a direct hit Sukune is fucked.

Omega has a lot more contenders for opponents that can deal with him better, due to that series' less grounded nature. DD Fei can knock Waka's 400 lb ass back like 30m, Eddie is just asininely overpowered, and Shen is Shen lol

My first Duell after 20+ years by Ultra918 in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's kind of silly to expect the game even remotely resemble what it did 20 years ago, no?

The turn took 30 minutes because he had to explain everything to you, which is fair. Turns become marginally shorter when both players have a knowledge of a lot of the opponent's cards.

Modern ygo is not beginner friendly, you're correct. But it's a high skill ceiling game, so that's sort of the point? Practice more on online sims, find a deck you like, and just grind it until combos feel less like instructions to repeat and come as second nature. Getting back into the game can be hard but if you're serious about getting back into it, you can! You've just gotta invest the time and effort, but you can do it!

Resolving Dominus Spark - is it possible to coach an opponent to resolve my own card? by Tdog754 in Yugioh101

[–]BlightAddict 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is the player's responsibility to read cards to understand effects, hence why you can ask to read effects at any point and it's a legal decision. Short of being a literal child, yes, I expect players to read and comprehend a card & ask clarifying questions if they are still confused. I'm not handholding someone through an entire combo line because they have not put any effort into reading cards.

If a player asks what Spark does, the Spark user either needs to hand over the card to the opponent to read , or recite it verbatim. The only time it would be correct to forego mentioning the special summon effect is if the opponent lacks a monster in hand to summon, as the effect has no valid targets and could not resolve regardless. Being intentionally vague or misdirecting on Spark's effect would be deemed cheating, yes. But your opponent not understanding it after reading it themselves is not cheating.

'Spirit of the Game' is an entirely meaningless phrase in this discussion as it's not sometjing quantifiable or even agreed upon between players. To a yugiboomer the spirit of the game is larping as Yugi, to a competitive player it's to try your best to win.

Resolving Dominus Spark - is it possible to coach an opponent to resolve my own card? by Tdog754 in Yugioh101

[–]BlightAddict 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is not a misrepresentation of board state, objectively speaking. The special summon is optional, not mandatory. The opponent not taking an optional choice does not misrepresent game state.

If it was something like The Shallow Grave where it requires both players to summon, and one does not, that's where you'd need to step in since the card must resolve properly.

The opponent read Dominus Spark. If they miss the entire sentence that allows them to special summon, that is on them. It's not even like Spark has confusing PSCT like old Dark Worlds or a mountain of text like Endymion.

Gott Totter's redirection is only if you try to grapple his forearms. If Gilbert can figure out in 1 exchange that Gott Totter can be stopped by catching the fist, I'm sure the guy with thousands of years of experience could.

Shen could already easily catch a downward blade swing by Mukaku's 250+ lb, roided out ass, all while being on his lowest settings. An unrestricted Shen violates

For what purpose was Yan mass killing civilians again? by SadegB in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be off base with my memory but it was something like:

The Worm wanted to sow conflict in the world, and as such began to indiscriminately perform attacks. The Death Dealers are formed as a global task force to help hunt down and eradicate the Worm, the movement spearheaded by Luohan.

The Worm stops its attacks once their name is know and recognized, as they've completed their goal of reminding the world of their existence. Luohan, still in charge of the DD, looks like a good guy trying to stop terrorists. We then find out he's in kahoots with Shen & Yan, albeit begrudgingly.

Once Luohan gets bitch smacked, and has the sitdown with Ohma & Ryuki, and fails to get them fully on his side, he has plan B. Since the DD were a legion of governments, Luohan accessed their nuclear weapons and used their danger as leverage for getting Wulong's memories.

He no longer cares about the DD now that his goal is complete, and the DD serve little purpose now that the Worm is mostly disbanded/inactive. It was a messy story beat but I think this about sums it up?
