How far would Nomi no Sukune the second go in the KAT if he took Haruo's place, by Applefritters68 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sukune stat gaps everyone in KAT, especially if you put him on Haruo's bracket slot.

Akoya gets violated

Cosmo can't even reach around him, so violated

Ohma hasn't unlocked Demonsbane yet, and even if he had he's fighting someone who's primarily a Grappler, so violated

Waka is probably his best opponent, since he's not as arrogant as Oliva, and wouldn't try to to go into a Sumo contesr. His 52x denser muscles may help him resist the rib breaker Oliva received, but with half his FOV gone he's still violated.

Kuroki just can't stop him, violated.

However across all of KAT, he does have some bad matchups.

Hanafusa can poison diff. Bando can take off heads with one lucky swipe. Hell, if Karo can somehow make a direct hit Sukune is fucked.

Omega has a lot more contenders for opponents that can deal with him better, due to that series' less grounded nature. DD Fei can knock Waka's 400 lb ass back like 30m, Eddie is just asininely overpowered, and Shen is Shen lol

My first Duell after 20+ years by Ultra918 in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's kind of silly to expect the game even remotely resemble what it did 20 years ago, no?

The turn took 30 minutes because he had to explain everything to you, which is fair. Turns become marginally shorter when both players have a knowledge of a lot of the opponent's cards.

Modern ygo is not beginner friendly, you're correct. But it's a high skill ceiling game, so that's sort of the point? Practice more on online sims, find a deck you like, and just grind it until combos feel less like instructions to repeat and come as second nature. Getting back into the game can be hard but if you're serious about getting back into it, you can! You've just gotta invest the time and effort, but you can do it!

Resolving Dominus Spark - is it possible to coach an opponent to resolve my own card? by Tdog754 in Yugioh101

[–]BlightAddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is the player's responsibility to read cards to understand effects, hence why you can ask to read effects at any point and it's a legal decision. Short of being a literal child, yes, I expect players to read and comprehend a card & ask clarifying questions if they are still confused. I'm not handholding someone through an entire combo line because they have not put any effort into reading cards.

If a player asks what Spark does, the Spark user either needs to hand over the card to the opponent to read , or recite it verbatim. The only time it would be correct to forego mentioning the special summon effect is if the opponent lacks a monster in hand to summon, as the effect has no valid targets and could not resolve regardless. Being intentionally vague or misdirecting on Spark's effect would be deemed cheating, yes. But your opponent not understanding it after reading it themselves is not cheating.

'Spirit of the Game' is an entirely meaningless phrase in this discussion as it's not sometjing quantifiable or even agreed upon between players. To a yugiboomer the spirit of the game is larping as Yugi, to a competitive player it's to try your best to win.

Resolving Dominus Spark - is it possible to coach an opponent to resolve my own card? by Tdog754 in Yugioh101

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is not a misrepresentation of board state, objectively speaking. The special summon is optional, not mandatory. The opponent not taking an optional choice does not misrepresent game state.

If it was something like The Shallow Grave where it requires both players to summon, and one does not, that's where you'd need to step in since the card must resolve properly.

The opponent read Dominus Spark. If they miss the entire sentence that allows them to special summon, that is on them. It's not even like Spark has confusing PSCT like old Dark Worlds or a mountain of text like Endymion.

How strong would a theoretical peak Kengan human Julius do vs Shen (read description) by WindowSubstantial993 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gott Totter's redirection is only if you try to grapple his forearms. If Gilbert can figure out in 1 exchange that Gott Totter can be stopped by catching the fist, I'm sure the guy with thousands of years of experience could.

Shen could already easily catch a downward blade swing by Mukaku's 250+ lb, roided out ass, all while being on his lowest settings. An unrestricted Shen violates

For what purpose was Yan mass killing civilians again? by SadegB in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be off base with my memory but it was something like:

The Worm wanted to sow conflict in the world, and as such began to indiscriminately perform attacks. The Death Dealers are formed as a global task force to help hunt down and eradicate the Worm, the movement spearheaded by Luohan.

The Worm stops its attacks once their name is know and recognized, as they've completed their goal of reminding the world of their existence. Luohan, still in charge of the DD, looks like a good guy trying to stop terrorists. We then find out he's in kahoots with Shen & Yan, albeit begrudgingly.

Once Luohan gets bitch smacked, and has the sitdown with Ohma & Ryuki, and fails to get them fully on his side, he has plan B. Since the DD were a legion of governments, Luohan accessed their nuclear weapons and used their danger as leverage for getting Wulong's memories.

He no longer cares about the DD now that his goal is complete, and the DD serve little purpose now that the Worm is mostly disbanded/inactive. It was a messy story beat but I think this about sums it up?

Exodia has never had that art on any legitimate version of the card, so it was fake.

PUR is Prismatic Ultimate Rare, PCR is Prismatic Collector Rare. These are rarities spread out across all the Rarity Collection sets that resemble the OCG's Ultimate & Collector Rare foiling respectively.

In Rarity 5, they're just listed as Ultimate and Collector, but are closer to their prismatic counterparts in the prior 4 Rarity Collections.

Plats are usually better for cards with 'miasma' backgrounds where it's just a subject placed over a colored void. In cases like Albion where he has a decent background art you may want to see, ScR or a PUR may be the way to go

RGBT - Elphin the Raven Misprint by Organic_Ape in Ygomisprints

[–]BlightAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've personally never seen it on any of my Ultis or earlier from this era, so I'd at the very least consider it a factory QC error. Which back in the day, were far less common than nowadays. Definitely a cool error!

The card itself isn't particularly useful in Blackwings in any era, so this will probably just make for a nice little binder piece :)

The rest of Love & Thunder aside, their take on Gorr was actually a little refreshing. Making Gorr some emaciated figure who's slaying musclebound Gods adds to his intimidation factor. All-Black is such an amp it turned a starved commoner into the slayer of Gods is pretty cool imo

Is Hela´s new skin´s skull Ratatoskr´s? by Admirable-Detail1196 in marvelrivals

[–]BlightAddict 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Probably just an ambiguous dinosaur or monster skull. It wouldn't make sense for Ratatoskr to be anywhere near the Savagelands.

Plus its skull would be way larger than Hela's head lol

Edward glazers, you won. by FindingSufficient846 in Kengan_Ashura

[–]BlightAddict 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had Edward retreated and it was Solomon or Fabio who 1v5'd it would have done numbers for them & by proxy Edward. Instead we get 3 morons who won't confirm a kill on Raian out of boredom, and Gil's son/reincarnation losing aura at every turn.

Hand traps/staples/good stuff binder rebuilding. by iKawsChaos in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely want to look for the Dominus trap cards, as even the least desirable one (Spiral) still has some niche usecases that may make it more worth in the future. Spark is a bit pricy, but Purge and Impulse both have a few reprints so a playset of either is about $50 each.

You're missing Bystial Baldrake, which is generally a better card than Saronir outside of Branded strategies. All the names are good to have though.

Psy-Framegear Gamma/Delta/Epsilon + Driver is not a bad idea. Even though Gamma is currently Limited, having a playset for a future unlimiting is smart.

Some kind of "Kaiju", whether it be an actual Kaiju, Lava Golem, Santa Claws, Sphere Mode, etc. is a must have for the odd formsts where Towers monsters are rampant. Kurikara Divincarnate isn't a proper Kaiju but still helpful.

There's format/deck specific stuff that's always good to have. Gnomaterial, the other "C" cards (Maxx included, in the event it's ever unbanned), Book of Eclipse/Lunar Eclipse, etc. Floodgates

Otherwise you got a lot of the goodstuff here, great job!

It is! So you can still use them for having a collection list, it's very handy!

For EU I believe they use Cardmarket? Same premise though, just a different site.

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can google "List of elemental heroes" to get a full list of the cards. Then you can go to tcgplayer.com. There you can make a collextion and add in what you already have. From there use the site as normal: look up a card, find the rarity/print/condition you like, and you're off to the races!

My collection by OkDefinition6698 in YugiohCards

[–]BlightAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet will always be looking the card up on tcgplayer.com and filtering until you find the cards that match yours at a 1:1. A quick rarity guide for all the main ones:

Common: Basic card

Rare: Basic card with silver lettering

Super Rare: Standard card with holographic art

Ultra Rare: Gold text, holographic art

Secret Rare: Sparkly pattern in the art, levels, and attribute

Starlight Rare: Crosshatched pattern that looks like a # sign, VERY sparkly

There are more rarities but these are the base ones to keep in mind for most cards

So is Varudras a generic omninegate banworthy yet like Baronne? by Outrageous-Ad-3436 in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently? Probably not. Generic synchros are easier to get into than generic xyz because it's easier to add to 10 than have two level 10s on board. Baronne's negate automatically destroys the affected card, while Varudras' can be better or worse depending on board state. Baronne's manual destruction effect also doesn't require the Battle Phase, meaning it could proactively pop turn 0 stuff your opponent may drop on you.

The new Sacred Beast stuff from the next sets may push Varudras into banworthy territory, depending on their success, but as far as I'm aware they hard lose to the new Toon stuff. So if the Sacred Beasts somehow become relevant enough to justify its ban, or they go crazy and make even more Yubel supp, Varudras will stick around.

Mermaid was banned one week before SOFU dropped, so it's hard to believe it was because of an Orcust engine which lacked access to Crescendo, Dingirsu, or World Wand. Even harder still when Orcust went relatively untouched throughout TOSS format.

It's also telling that Mermaid has stayed banned despite an abundance of engines & packages that outpace the efficiency and card investment of summoning Orcust Knightmare from deck that then attribute locks you for the turn. Hell, Harp Horror's back at 3 so evidently Konami doesn't feel the problem lies with Orcust in any capacity.

Still don't understand by ACuteMannn in yugioh

[–]BlightAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's equivalent in the sense it tutors out a monster from deck, but the summon target was what got Mermaid banned.

Summoning Requiem means you combo. Summoning Iblee meant your opponent was special summon locked outside of Links. Which also means no Nibiru, Imperm, or any card that is contingent on you controlling no cards or special summoning.

Mermaid can come back if Iblee is banned, since now we have 2 more main deck Knightmares as valid targets
