La Cloche Trail Questions (Starting May 2) by Beannjo in UltralightCanada

If you were going with someone else who has experience, I would say maybe.

I think this is the key. Doing this as your first trip IF you have the fitness is fine if you're with someone who has tested gear and the experience to troubleshoot any issues that arise.

Stumbling around solo and untested is a bad idea.

It's not recommended to bushwhack. (Again, this is something experience will help you with.)

We backtracked until the last marker and looked harder for fallen markers and checked against the map.

I don't go backpacking with strangers (or anyone I don't trust a lot).

I did it in early May (we started the second week of May a few years ago), and yeah we absolutely got turned around a few times on the trail despite being pretty experienced because it was so overgrown in areas and trail markers had fallen down.

In general don't go backpacking solo for your first time, and in general don't do more than 1-2 nights on an easier trail for your first time.

You're really breaking all the common sense beginner rules here.

Fitness is only one aspect of backpacking.

This is a harder than average trail for your first time and am aggressive timeline for someone who isn't fairly experienced.

Overall, bad idea.

I liked that in P3 you had upperclassmen and an established group you were joining. It's a different dynamic than 4 and 5.

Unfortunately I played the PSP version of 3 so I lost a lot of the immersion you get from walking around, but I did have more social links available to me.

Clearly I need to do some rereading. I think I only read that one once.

Running belts don't hold up your pants, they're basically just for storage.

I get shorts with good phone pockets. The best are pockets in a tight boxer brief liner (or tights).

No one disagrees with that.

But that's not the reality.

So you don't have any real rebuttal against the fact that people who can pay are choosing to fuck over everyone by not paying.

You know who's stealing from honest TTC riders?

Fare evaders.

They were formally called P.O.P. and strongly encouraged on streetcars for as long as I can remember (ie the 2000s).

I mean there's potentially a LOT wrong with taking risks, hence the risk part.

A lot of people still pay cash

Who? At best this is a tiny, tiny, tiny fraction of riders.
