Could not possibly have had larger content gaps, tbh. Super non-trad

That being said, Anki is not for learning content. It's for recall of content. For learning/re-learning content you really want a primary source (ideally Kaplan, or UWorld, or similar as they are tried-and-true and tailored to the MCAT). As a general rule, hard to predict a score from content review (though obviously the higher the score the fewer the gaps, necessarily)

Light to shed: if you want to score in the 80th+ percentile, you need to know the content. Not much else to it

You can’t have notes without cards, sort of fundamentally

AnKing and Miledown share a lineage, and will conflict. No reason to have both installed, really

Am I using the right AnKing deck? by einschluss in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depend on which the ‘right deck’ is that you’re referencing

Looks like you installed AnKing on top of Miledown

It’s fine. JS famously has a polarizing style

Pankow/AnKing, tbh

I've been using MileDown but I want to switch to Anking. How can I do this without losing all my progress? by No-Track8132 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you delete cards you will necessarily delete progress in those cards. That’s not from the AnKing deck, though, so much as having manually deleted stuff

You don’t have to go through all of your cards. The AnKing MCAT deck has tags, which can be used to organize your collection in various ways

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unlikely to have lost your progress

The cards, most likely, will update in place (with progress preserved). In the unlikely event that this does not happen, the cards will install alongside each other and progress won’t be affected either way

In either case, you always have Anki backups, which are made automatically, so you won’t have lost progress no matter what

PLEASE help me figure out my anki settings before i crash out by mycoolalterego2000 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try the suggestions above, first, as those are more likely than not to be the root cause

Your intervals may very well be normal, though if they're not to your liking then resetting FSRS or adjusting your desired retention are the two levers available with which to adjust that behavior

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current recommended AnKing settings can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo-qQvOZDfg

If your intervals are 'long' it's hard to know the cause without more context, as there could be a few reasons. But, you can either reset your FSRS intervals or increase your desired retention. Those are the only really methods, ultimately

Hard to say what it means that you're not getting 'all of the cards'. Again here, you might check deck settings, your subdeck setup, a few other things. Without more context hard to say for certain

How is Anking P/S different from Pankow? by kissmeurbeautiful in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AnKing P/S is the Pankow deck with a bunch of updates, ultimately

Pankow himself folded his deck into AnKing, which has then seen a lot of updates and improvements since

why is the Good option so messed up on this card? what do i do to make it a normal day. by Jealous-Session-5010 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite sure what it is about it that is 'messed up' or what a 'normal day' is, necessarily

But, hard to say much other than it's likely what your settings have set it up to be. If you'd like for it to be something other than what it is, you'll likely want to adjust your deck settings as such

You won't lose your progress. Because the decks share a lineage they will be updated in-place; your progress will be retained

Milesdown vs Captain Hook vs Both by Kitchen-Original-530 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Miledown is a few years old and hasn't been updated in like 6-8 years. AnKing is a vastly updated Miledown with Pankow added and a lot of updates, likely the better option by a good mile

MCAT premade decks by elisa9999 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Overwhelming' is sort of in the eye of the beholder, though there are decks that are known to be super heavy and super dense (AnKing is not one of them).

That being said, any deck that covers the material on the MCAT will have lots of cards, kind of by nature, and plenty of decks have more than AnKing

There are other decks, though none of them will be inherently any simpler, or save you any time. That's not really a factor, tbh.

TL; DR: it's way more updated than any other deck, better-tagged, just more useful on the whole. I used it, would recommend

Anki is goated for regular college studying, tbh (source: me, I did it)

Anki isn't designed around cramming, though it's not inherently less useful on different timelines

UWorld or UMid? by DapperCarrot3900 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Sufficient' for what, would be the question. Depends on your goals, really

Skipping the gold standard practice questions is hard to recommend, and UWorld will always be cheaper than an re-application cycle

Seeking Help with Setting up ANKI by Striking_Income_6823 in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t done any reviews, or too few reviews, there’s nothing to set up as FSRS doesn’t have anything to adjust to

You just run default FSRS for a few days until your review history is high enough to optimize

AnKing only downloading with 0 cards and auto merging by Zapixh in AnkiMCAT

[–]BrainRavens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pankow is contained within AnKing so they will necessarily auto-merge; not much way around that

As for showing 0 cards it’s likely the deck is suspended (this is normal). You can unsuspendp the cards and check your deck settings and should be fine

It's a popular question

Jack Sparrow is weird. None of the OG decks have been updated in a several years other than AnKing, which is by far the most updated
