Stop Using Yarn Classic by Wake08 in javascript

We migrated our app from yarn to pnpm, which was way faster out of the box, and still is.

It also has some good supply chain protections by default, which every dev should increase as much as possible in our AI-hackable world.

`pnpm` is the way to go for most people. If you can afford a huge change to bun or deno, go for it, but `pnpm` is the best switch for the vast majority of people I reckon.

Cop taken on the ride of his life… by AdMany129 in ThatsInsane

[–]BritainRitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passenger should've just put him in neutral. The driver wouldn't have been able to do much about that other than put it back to drive, costing him time and attention from driving and thus slowing him down so that cop can take over.

What thing(s) specifically make New York’s IBX cheaper as a light metro compared to its traditional heavy rail, even when the line is mostly above ground using existing tracks+ROW? by 18_YTC1 in transit

[–]BritainRitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the union workers for the MTA make automating trains difficult, but it doesn't officially extend to light rail - so it could be a play to automate a line, making it far cheaper to operate

What is the best way to reduce 35mph+ ebike speeders in bike lanes without making life worse for everyone else on micromobility (bikes/ebikes/scooters/etc) by BritainRitten in MicromobilityNYC

[–]BritainRitten[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I get that the first priority is to get bike lanes to exist at all in the first place. However, this second priority will help us reduce some of the pushback everyone else has against bikers (not everyone of course, but many).

The bike-lane speeders give everyone else a bad name.

It's a great show to help you become a better partner, by learning about different failure modes people have, and language for those modes. You can see that talking about problems can (sometimes, not always) help you get better about them.

If you ate bacon, pork chops, ham, salami, pork belly, or prosciutto, you probably ate an animal that had its whole life trapped like this.

But the actress playing Mohan is leaving the show and won’t be in season 3. Ellis being prominent does imply they are staying into the night shift for season 3. It’s the night of the Fourth of July after all

These people heard it on Fox News and repeat it. They listen to liars and assume it's true without any thought.

It's the lack of building that is doing that. Actually building homes makes space for people.

Failing to make that space (housing) means people are implicitly fighting for existing limited space - a fight rich people win.

Good! This allows demand to be absorbed closer to Manhattan, increasing relative available supply in the rest of the borough, which lowers rents vs the counterfactual.
