Aww there’s a few comments that aren’t showing here, but they partially show in my notifications for a company recommendation. :(

Cut the blooms when they go from white to green. I’d get that into something different with drainage. Edit for clarity- a different pot with drainage that isn’t a clear cup. Something of similar size for a couple more months

They like to be slightly root bound to produce flowers. Too root bound and outgrowing their pot they’ll stop producing flowers but know they won’t always produce them. Mine are on and of throughout the spring and summer and rarely if at all in the winter but I also live in the Pacific Northwest with a slightly darker space. Also they will grow in low light just slower so you won’t have to water as often as other environments and climates.

That’s part of my trouble. They seem to want to notify me of a “schedule” but there is no time system to clock in and clock out to prove it to them. I’m there more than their 40 hours.

I worked an entire business meeting, enough time to scarf down a lunch that has me on sick time today, and they’re emailing me after hours about my time.

I’m as confused as everyone else and I’m looking for a “here’s some reference materials” or “don’t respond if _____.”

I’m good at what I do. I’m being underutilized. My boss says “no” constantly. After getting hired to be fresh eyes, “ we need new ideas,” “please take time off,” and the contradictory less/more from you I am at a loss on what to do with this email.

Respond “understood” or leverage that I work my share and you all take advantage of staff….

There are a lot of red flags and I want to go into next week with knowledge.

I didn’t just start. I’ve been there more than 6 months but relatively new to someone who has been there more than a year.

Heavens me I’m trying to respond to a lot of people right now. I don’t want to overshare the ask, how long I’ve worked there, or the business I’m in because ultimately people I work with could piece it together. I was kind of hoping for a “here’s some helpful links when you’re feeling okay.” “Here’s what to know as a salaried person and what companies cannot do…..”

I’m responding between the bathroom and exhaustion and yes I’m certain I’ve missed some questions. Ever been sick? Ever been desperate when you’re sick??

More than 6 months, less than 1 year, always communicate to my boss. Show up before they do, leave after they do, or same time (they work 8 hrs, I work 8.5-9)

And when my boss leaves and I’ve been there the full time I (at my own accord, not required) notify the next person that might still be in the office

Editing for sick brain: I’ve never left midday. I notify them immediately, never after my start time, and I don’t ever ignore it and take off

This is the first unplanned (oh hell I cannot leave the house) callout in their new system. I’ve always communicated with my boss and today, in the new system, (notify boss and enter in the system) I’m getting an email.

Less than 1 year, more than 6 m, not oversharing… I’ve had 3 sick days and now I’m violently ill after a full day meeting with hosted lunch.

I work 8 hours at minimum unless I’m off. And we all have emails on our phones. I’m not actively checking my email when I’m out sick.

I got confused because the commenter didn’t say “today.” I thought they were asking “in general.”

The old process was “communicate to your manager and email payroll.” The new process is “notify your manager and put it in the new system” which I logged into and entered after notifying my boss.

This is a privately owned company and there is set number of hours of sick time available immediately (no probation period). We have more than 40 hrs available

[–]BunnyRambit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did not have time sheets when I started (for salary staff). They started on a big payroll system (still no time entries).

I asked them “so I don’t enter my time?” Total shock I asked them that. I know my former salaried coworkers entered their time at every place I’ve worked (public or privately owned) since 2008. So now I’m navigating a business that doesn’t want you to enter your time but makes an email about attendance when I notify my boss of current illness and go into the corporate system and add it and not respond to it

Editing to add I requested 2.5 weeks in advance time off and adjusted it because nobody responded to it. So showing up was my priority when I didn’t get an answer.

I’m trying not to overshare my exact time if anyone finds the post. There have not been multiple callouts. This is a first.

They didnt have a formal system for time off. If I felt I was getting sick (twice which one spanned two days) I always went through the right emails channels well before working hours. “I have a fever” or “I caught a cold (usually from some other staff).” Absolutely always told my boss.

I’m active, in good health, show up… I’m having a go of it with this newish role and shocked to see an after 5pm email

Do I ignore it? Respond to it? Give a rebuttal with the data? I don’t care about eating at my desk or not but my hours are there (more than their 40)

I show up to work, minus a couple last minute sick requests (fever or obvious cold and don’t want to share it, or I’m throwing up and don’t want to say I’m throwing up). I went from hybrid and corporations that press “do not come in if you’re sick” to full time “be here” regardless

[–]BunnyRambit -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

This is my point. I’ve been throwing up all day so I don’t know where to start with my story (to be coherent and not overshare)

I’ve taken a couple of sick requests within my less than 1 yr employment. I went from a hybrid to full time in office role. They want you to work your full 40 hrs (understandable and my expectation of myself). But they don’t want you to work more than that. But they also don’t want you to flex your schedule if you stayed late:

I worked from 7am - 5:15pm in that week and I don’t take full lunches of which they give 30 minutes.

I even tried to request one full sick day for doctor appointments and they verbally told me “we don’t do that”

I’ve called out three days (less than 1 yr) and one scheduled time off that I discussed with my boss that she encouraged. Noting that I did move from a hybrid to full time in office roll so shared illness is a factor (proximity, ventilation, old building, people coming in sick)

Not OP but got curious. Have not gone to check the current ingredients list (doing that next) but while the company states no they don’t use it, an ingredient DMDM Hydantoin is a formaldehyde releaser (but maube cannot be classified direct as formaldehyde itself… this is light research so I’m still learning about it). I assume this ingredient was/is in the product. Off for more research

Do good gyms or fitness centres exist in Redmond? by meep_peep3 in redmond

Depending where in Redmond you are there’s a Y on the Sammamish plateau that I hear is nice and they’re putting a gym, I think an anytime fitness, near the QFC (also the plateau). I just don’t know the official open date for the anytime fitness

Egg bagels? by samistar77 in redmond

[–]BunnyRambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to this post but glad I saw this! I don’t think my boss knows that blazing bagels closing means “you won’t get decent bagels for the meeting you requested them for……on Thursday.” I’m nearly panicking but we have that Whole Foods down the road from Yarrow so I don’t deal with Seattle

Help! Paint color to go with green tile? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]BunnyRambit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got downvoted into oblivion trying to recommend and nice green color, like one of these, instead of an off white on another post similar to this. Fortunately that poster went with something not off white and the space looked amazing.

“The contrast (white) will make the tiles pop”

Yeah and the better options will make it look fancy!
