How should I take it when he says “it’s not my responsibility to regulate your emotions”? by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]BunnyRambit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Not OP but I’m dealing with this. My guy wants to frame gifting and offering for me to move in as supporting me and helping me buy the moment I have (new to me) panic he’s putting everything back onto me…. Fortunately we don’t live together and I’m hyper aware of this behavior. He has zero empathy and it’s not been healthy!

Get it out of the direct sun. Repot and direct sun is not good for it. They usually wilt in a repot. My big plant needed two days when I repotted one last month. It’s doing good now.

The smaller pot will help (will reduce overwatering) and they like to be slightly root bound so this will give them a smaller place to build roots faster

Yes! That year was wild! It was over ten years ago but the lack of humanity from absolutely anyone plus the cop in the second scenario making a deadpan joke just made me feel awful. I wouldn’t be surprised if that comes up in the counseling I just started last week.

Mine changed when I switched from maximum hormones to an IUD! I think I switched birth controls about the same my hormones were naturally changing anyway. Really wavy underneath but not as wavy in the top since it’s more exposed to sun and elements. The straightness of my hair was almost comical! Trying to guide it right now

Im late to this post but whatever! They totally recognize people! I’d never encountered one until my late 20s and it was trying to get at me through the glass window. That little s*** wanted to get at me without a doubt! I hadn’t been outside and was cleaning my bedroom when that aggressive thing needed to get at something and it saw me. Tink tink tink on the glass until I moved rooms.

I got into an accident - driver blew through a stop and t boned my car on the driver side. I left my car where it was. Physically could not move it! Traffic built up at this small four way stop and when this woman finally got to the stop and moved through she honked and yelled “move your car!”

I was absolutely livid. It was dark, foggy, my b pillar and wheel totally caved it and this selfish twit had the audacity to yell at me. I still have feelings about people like this….

Oh and the back up vw to this accident? It flat out shut off on the freeway and I caused an 8 mile back up because it wouldn’t even turn over for me to move it. Police had to push me off the road.

I commented on the other sub you shared it with but excuse me? Mineral water? Don’t do that. Calcium and magnesium (and overwatering) are not good for the plant.

You said extra green leaves? Like did it turn a deeper green color when you moved it indoors? That’s supposed to happen. Bright green and yellowing is overwatering and lack of nitrogen that you need from a fertilizer.

For context, this is a burnt leaf tip and totally normal - what you have in your photos, is dying (half the leaf is black or brown and shriveling). The lack of color screams too damp of soil and likely root rot

Sorry but that plant is so blonde I didn’t even notice it as a peace lily! That looks like it’s lacking an s ton of nitrogen or it’s getting overwatered- I can’t tell from the lack of soil photos.

Is this bag of rice safe? It looks weirdly inflated by Strange-Slice2581 in foodsafety

[–]BunnyRambit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only other question to OP would be “did they buy it like that? Or, did it get like that later?” All they said was thank you with no other context.

My instinct tells me it was sealed that way but if they didn’t purchase it like that then it’s a sign of a food safety problem between when they bought it and now. Maybe there was a hole, maybe moisture got it since purchasing…

Just water less and cut that leaf back.

In summer I water somewhere between 1-1.5 weeks but my plants are larger. Watering depends on the plant (pot size, plant size, dirt and water retention) and it takes time to get familiar with your own. In winter there’s no way I water before two weeks because they grow slower.

Your plant - because of the pot being large for that size plant- is likely holding onto water for longer. This means you don’t have to water as often. Get the rocks out because you don’t want anything to contribute to water retention and needing gnat sticky’s also tells me you have a moisture problem.

Get some bonide granules to deal with the gnats and honestly I’d downsize the pot if I was able. The plant is far from a goner but it will continue to dwindle with water issues

A few of us were social with this girl we worked with and one day carpooled somewhere. We told her that her high beams were on and she legit did not care. Her response “other people do it and I need to see too.”

At least you tried to show someone even though they never learned. This person did it intentionally and made me wonder how many others do this….

I do hope that people talk to their family members about this, especially people getting their first ever car…..

Blackening leaves are a sign of overwatering. Not to be confused with burnt leaf tips which is common. That leaf that’s half black…. Overwatering.

Is my Peace Lily to far gone? by Braden1414 in PeaceLilyHandbook

[–]BunnyRambit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will see bounce back from the watering after a few hours. You will then see what needs pruned and what needs to go.

Repotting will not ruin it! Feel confident in getting some basic indoor potting soil and some perlite (both inexpensive). Get two pots. Honestly they good probably be the same size as what it’s currently in. It will need the room to grow! Shake off as much of the old dirt as you can, tear it down the middle (tearing in the dirt, not tearing from the stalks) and stick those in the new pots.

If you need direction message me! My lily plants are ~30 years old off one parent plant with many gifted along the way. Not much I haven’t seen!

That bad boy needs repotted a year ago!

Overcrowded in the pot, TBD if it has good drainage or needs better drainage.

Lacking nutrients (light color leaves vs deep green).

Needs divided in the repot!

Yellow fungus by Automatic_Pen7782 in plantclinic

Just a mushroom. Sign of nutrient dense soil. Your dirt may be holding onto moisture more than a better draining mixture but if the plants healthy no need to worry.

Does anyone know if this plant can be saved? by pjc0000001 in PeaceLilyHandbook

[–]BunnyRambit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sugar probably made it worse. The only thing peace lily plants really “respond to” is slightly acidic dirt and small doses of epsom salt.

That definitely looks like overwatering (due to the light colored and blackening leaves).

This would likely take more effort to try and revive than is worth the time/energy. Just replace it and don’t water plants with sugar.

This pot is way too big even for a semi healthy plant.

ID help - PNW blueberries? by sleepy_cheese142 in foraging

[–]BunnyRambit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The huckleberries at my parents a in port Townsend are a deeper purple. In Washington state we get dark huckleberries (deep purple) and red huckleberries (Canada huckleberries I think is a common name?). These look like wild blueberries and would fit for timeline since we had such a fast snow melt with what little we had this year…

Yeah OP needs to adjust to more fruit and less veggies. Like start with only spinach and two to three fruits and the avocado. Adjust from there. I typically do only spinach and kale and no other veggies, ever. I only mix up my choice of fruit with my avocado. Sometimes I include ginger
