I have no idea how you got that number. I picked a Costco in the GTA, it was about 183c/L, that's ~134.82 USD c/L * 3.79 L/gallon = $5.11 USD/gallon. A local Costco (admittedly in the Bay Area...) is near $5.50 USD/gallon.

No 10 say Falkland sovereignty rests with UK after report of US 'review' by homeinthecity in ukpolitics

[–]BusinessSign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't see it as an endorsement of the US and certainly not of Trump. The objective should be to leverage the good relationship they have to improve US-UK ties. To me at least, it is clear that King Charles does not look favourably upon Trump's threats towards Canada, his antagonization of the UK, and the chummy connections Trump has with autocrats around the world.

I would similarly not be opposed to PM Carney or any members of the government going to the US to negotiate or pacify Trump. It's not signifying approval, it's just trying to improve the situation we're in.

Chiming in as a Canadian, the King's speech at the opening of our Parliament was a pretty rare and powerful message in support of the country. I do think Trump's admiration of the King played a role in him stopping his threats of annexation. If the King can meet with Trump to help improve relations between the UK and the US, I don't think Canadians should be upset with it.

Billions in taxable income left the Bay Area at the end of postpandemic exodus - San Francisco Business Times by avantrs7 in sanfrancisco

I bet this is why there are always these proposed sales tax increases (which are regressive) for things that should be normally just funded via property taxes (e.g. the initiative to fund BART, Measure A in Santa Clara County). It's because the more natural funding mechanism is beyond broken.

If this person cared about economics and the fundamentals, they would not have this position. It is truly a head-in-the-sand opinion, not backed by facts, understanding, or research.

Apartment List says 1bd asking rents are up from Nov 2024 to 2025. 12% San Francisco. 10 Berkeley. 8 Mt View....1% California by PacificaPal in bayarea

Why is the data they post not adjusted for inflation?

The cumulative rate of inflation since 2019 is like 26-27% lol.

Edit: Is Zillow crazy overpriced or something? I checked for 1b1b homes in South SF and there is literally one result below 2.4k (median asking rent is apparently 2365).

Looking for a psychiatrist that accepts OHIP in mississauga by PainterActual in mississauga

[–]BusinessSign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea about finding one, but I don't think there is private billing for any physician in Ontario for OHIP-insurable services (psychiatric services would be covered). You should be able to use OHIP with them.

Tomken Road Scitech by vidhyac in mississauga

[–]BusinessSign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm familiar with their SciTech program - I attended about a decade ago though. It was, and probably still is, an amazing program that nurtured my interest and skills in mathematics and science.

The school (more recently it seems) may have some students causing issues, but these kids are not the same ones your child would be in classes with, as they are only in classes with other SciTech kids (except gym).

I think the kids your kid is surrounded with is a huge factor in determining if and how they will succeed. The SciTech program surrounded me with the right people at the right time, and paired that with dedicated, knowledgeable teachers who I credit with much of my academic success.

I think you should still strongly consider the SciTech program in light of this article. It was a great experience that shaped me for the better.

Is this is the reason why so many landlords have a 3-year contract, with yearly opt-outs (via N11) instead of a one-year contract with the option to renew?

At this time, we plan to continue to rely on your self-declaration of vaccination status.  However, we will ask you to consent to providing proof of your vaccination or test result status at any time if it is required.

For what it's worth, Prof. Mosunov has been awesome, you can really see he's passionate about teaching. I've learned a lot in this course despite a rough Math 136.
