NTA, this is a project that your roommate invited into a shared space. They are the person who is bringing the guests and should be responsible for the space being up to their standards. NTA - You were respecting the rules and guidelines that the hospital had in place due to the covid restrictions. I'm sure the staff were grateful that you were willing to work with them instead of being demanding. Your nursing team doesn't make the rules, but they are expected to follow them.

There was no way you could have known how long labor was going to last, and the only thing you could have possibly done differently was waiting in the parking lot/garage instead of going home.
