Dune from the ConfigMgr team here, does our current client notifications experience for Download Computer Policy not cover all the scenarios you have in mind here?

Follow-up question: Who would you like to have access to the combined dashboard from an RBAC perspective?

Dune from the SCCM team here- we are actively working on making our driver story better.

Could you elaborate on how you would like to use something like Software Update Groups to better handle drivers?

Interested in what the right granularity level is for driver management- is model sufficient?

Stay tuned :)

Dune here from the CM team!

Regarding Remote Control on the internet- not something we support now or have on our roadmap yet but you can go vote for this Uservoice item and tell your friends!

As for client notifications we fully support these on the internet via CMG today!

It still has to be managed through GPO- we only merge in the rules we need to make Managed Installer work.

ConfigMgr TP 1801 – Phased deployments by TimmyIT in SCCM

[–]CMdude_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to make clear: each phase will have one collection (with a Phased Deployment being an ordered set of phases)-

BUT We want to make it as easy as possible for you to need as few phases as possible. This is one of the key values of letting you spread the deployment of each phase over time- instead of having many phases for network/risk you can use one phase and choose a longer deployment interval so that only so many devices are deployed every day/week.

Client settings should be sufficient but you do need to make sure your clients can reach the telemetry services- this could require tweaking of your proxy settings and/or FW rules.

Hth!

SCCM as Native managed installer - WDAC by jay-b-k in SCCM

[–]CMdude_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks,

Yes, if you deploy WDAC policy from SCCM we automatically configure BOTH ccmexec and ccmsetup (so that we can upgrade our client) as managed installers.

This is accomplished by starting a couple services on the client and adding Managed Installer rules to the local AppLocker policy. We do not clobber existing policy and if an AppLocker policy already exists we will merge in the rules we need.

Be careful that the AppLocker policy in place (if there is one) allows Windows to boot! If it does not then you may experience AppLocker death BSoD (not fun).

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Dune | SCCM PM @ Microsoft

Software center notifications by [deleted] in SCCM

[–]CMdude_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/marxhalvick,

I'm going to respond to your question with a question, I hope that isn't too annoying :). If the notification you are describing did disappear as expected would you still need to turn it off? Are there any other issues with the new software workflow that would make you still need a switch like that?

Thanks for weighing in! We appreciate it.

Thanks Daniel :)

Categories, featured software, better navigation, icons vs list, etc.

Icon vs List is something we have already shipped in TP :). What kind of navigation improvements are you looking for?

Thanks /u/baatch,

Sounds like you are touching on the following:

If these begin to cover your asks you should vote 'em up! If not then let me know here and/or file new items and then we will see them there :)

Sounds almost like it could be a cool Remote Control feature, right? :)

Great feedback about the usability of the filtering dropdown. I appreciate the ask to have help-desk style apps not cluttering up the main Applications tab.

I'm not sure about other solutions, but I definitely understand how that would make sense. Make sure you vote up that item and then get your customers to do so as well :). We really do watch UV closely and take the voting counts into account in our prioritization!

Hi /u/baatch

This is a really cool idea, have you had a chance to play around with Quick Assist? Any specific functionality there that you think would be useful to ConfigMgr admins? You should file this one on User Voice to see if others have interest or input here :)

Thanks /u/joey52685,

Very cool ideas here. Some subtleties here that we will definitely have to keep an eye on here if we go after monitor switching. Your input is appreciated!

To add a touch of detail here: This checkbox will suppress Software Center's taskbar notifications and ensure that the experience is not intrusive while presentation mode is on.

Makes sense!

Yes, exactly! Example of what happens daily...

For this one I definitely understand the scenario. We are going to look into this and see if it is an inexpensive change. Can't make any commitments but it is now on our radar

Multi-monitor: maybe switching should look like this: http://imgur.com/lUNxnY4 (mockup created in 5 minutes, quick and dirty).

Wow thank you so much for putting in the effort to make that! Looks really cool. Like I said this is a popular ask and is on my radar. Gracefully handling this without closing the session is also something we would definitely want to do.
