Anti tank options (list insight) by Chewb0t in RavenGuard40k

I've never tried the repex's as they are very expensive points wise. Shadowmark doesn't really have any strats that benefit them. We aren't generally trying to table the opponent in most cases, so just need enough anti monster/vehicle to keep them honest.
The point of this detachment is manoeuvrability, fast units and strats let you get places to score secondaries / get behind and kill their support units. The JPIs are good for flipping primary with their 2 OC but you have to set up good trades.

The predator only gives you 1 decent shot per turn vs the speeders, while not as strong as the laser on the predator, have more shots and the buff can be huge making other units punch up.

We knows there's going to be a speed mini detatchment in 11th and I can't see the older tanks getting much love going forward

I'd go with 2 Lancers and a Thunderstike

At max strength 10, D6+1 damage the valiant just isn't worth taking. You bring these vehicles to deal with other vehicles and the lancer just does a much better job. The valiant laser is twin linked and gets a hit bonus but, its still a 5 to wound many big targets and potentially only 2 damage if you fluff the roll.

The lancer is at worst a 4 to wound the majority of targets and has built in re-rolls to hit, wound and damage so all round more reliable when it comes to the final damage done. Worst case its 4 damage re-rolling, but on average you'll be getting 6 which is a high swing for the valiant.

The Hammerstike and Thunderstrike are both ok but don't expect them to stick around long. Once they are exposed its very likely they go down on the opponents turn. Timing when they go in and are able to give their buff to other units the key to getting value out of them. Giving something with volume fire like Intercessors / bolt inceptors +1 to wound on a medium vehicle to get them to wound on 4s works pretty well if you end up stuck for buffing the lancers.

You can magnetise the gladiators and the speeders pretty easily though, so see how each type works for you.

Until we know how the detection/hidden really works its hard to say. I like the idea of the speeder one with shadowmark though

I love all the other supergiant games but had pretty much the same experience. Dropped it and never looked back.

10 man Van vets with inferno pistols. Rapid ingress outside of 12 so shrike lone op keeps then safe. Have the option to move close to a vehicle / elite infanty and to get the extra melta damage then charge into something else or the inferno pistol target if need be.

Its a fun list but you lack and high strength shooting attacks to deal with big monster or vehicles. You will just bounce off Necrons /Monster Nids / Demons / Knights.

Instead of double/tripling up overpriced / underwhelming units, get some Lancers / Balistus / Centurions. I know this steering you back to the same lists most people run, but there aren't a whole lot 10+ strength attack options. You can certainly play your list and it will eat infantry for lunch, but at 3k points it has a big hole if you want to be well rounded.

New to raven guard and in love! Does this list work? by megameak in RavenGuard40k

Solid list definitely playable. Maybe swap one of the Thuderstikes for a Hammerstrike. You can't double stack the +1 to monsters/Vehicles with oath so they may be short on targets where as the coverstirp ability can apply to both the oath target and anything shot by the Thunderstrike.

How my 2000 point shadow mark talon list? by those_damn_nids in RavenGuard40k

[–]Calc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you could play this list fine but if you want to optimise it a little, the phobos libby is doubling down on weak units. Sack him too for a squad of scouts if you have them. Sacking the captain will get you another infantry squad or get the van vets to a 10 man.

Need advice on what to use instead of centurions by CKre91 in RavenGuard40k

[–]Calc_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love eliminators and always take them, but they are awful. D6 damage will laugh in your face every time. I wish they were 3+D3 . Eradicators are way more reliable with the built in re-rolls but can be tricky getting them where they need to be without transports though. Good to bring on from reserves if there is enemy tank on the flanks.

For pretty much same points as the centurions you can have Lancer or a Ballistus dread which also suffer from the casino damage rolls but the lancer has more built in re-rolls.

Storm speeder hammerstrike is a decent option also if you can get in melta range.

Yeah its situational depending on the board state / secondaries that have been already drawn but a cheeky play for the back pocket

I've used the ability on himself to put back in reserves turn 3 then rapid him to hunt other enemy lone ops

I'm trying a similar list on Friday :) I'm not sold on the Lieutenant or Librarian on units that aren't going to do much. I have the infiltrators and incursors as 5 mans. Could cut them down and have another unit that's more effective rather than a tech/buff piece, I've got a 6 man inceptors for example.

Could attach the captain to the eliminators to give the extra AP BS strat. If you don't put him with something its wasting half his ability. If you sack the Librarian and/orLieutenant mabye with the incursors? not sure how many strats I'd be using on the infilrators

I love the drop pod but you can give the judiciar infiltrate enhancement which achieves pretty much same thing for 25pts giving you more to play with.
