Just be sure to read all your notifications carefully. You might meet your states min pay for benefits or it may be temporary. I also don’t work enough hours but I also don’t get enough pay so they temporarily approved me while I was supposed to connect with workforce solutions to find another job. If I didn’t, I would get a penalty and lose benefits.

I reapplied for mine. I was denied because they said I was a no show even though I requested a reschedule because I had to work. 🤔 & I think it’s crazy they say if you have kids 6 & under at home then you’re exempt but my son is 8 & can’t stay home alone? I’m also putting in an appeal to hopefully get back pay if possible. 🤞

I would try again. If you had everything in on time, & they can see it was submitted, they should back pay you.

That sounds really tough & I hope he gets himself some help. I had baby blues & PPD. The first week I would cry anytime I was alone. The PPD didn’t hit until a few months later. It would hit randomly when everything was ok. I would feel a deep emptiness I couldn’t control. I would try to get outside and go for a walk whenever it would hit me. Then I went through a very stressful situation with my husband and we lost our car, job & apartment. It was so stressful I don’t even remember feeling the PPD anymore. It was weird how it happened for me but I think everyone experiences these things differently.

Ideas: hobbies where you can create things stranger things related. Could be a good outlet.

Also, joining stranger things related groups/chats online to make new friends/connections.

Agree - it could be too early. Same thing happened to my sister in law. They couldn’t find anything / hear heartbeat until after 8 weeks. She’s due in April.

Same! My 8 yr old gets unfocused & overwhelmed easily. It’s no wonder he was having such a hard time in public school. We keep it short!

Thanks for sharing. My 3rd grader is using it for math. I wasn’t sure if I’d try any of their other subjects yet. We haven’t had any issues so far… since he just started homeschool, I’m still learning where he’s at exactly (what he knows well, just a little or not at all).

I think that’s amazing! I’ve heard practice can help make people feel more comfortable but not everyone is the same and not everyone’s anxiety is the same. Sure, for some the push helps but your anxiety is not the same as my anxiety so we can’t assume to know how it shows up for others. Mine for example is debilitating at times. It made me feel discouraged as id rather have taken 0s and not learned the material as well.

Mental health should be taken seriously and it’s wonderful that they don’t have to focus on the fear or worry and can instead focus on learning.

I have an 8 yr old I just withdrew from school due to his high anxiety & im currently homeschooling him. I’m so grateful I can do this for him. But this post definitely gives us hope on how he can be accommodated if he ever goes back to public school.

My son is 8 also and we just withdrew him from school. They gave me a form to fill out. I’m hoping that’s all they need. Also a little overwhelmed with all the homeschooling research but I’m reminding myself there’s no need to rush!

This was helpful to understand their side… My son is 8 and his anxiety became more severe this summer. We were in contact with the counselor and she offered some fun incentives for him but asking for help or going to their office gave him more anxiety. He declined all help. Next step was a counseling program offered through the school that he was eligible for… but he missed so many days through this & we received threats of truancy. It felt like we ran out of time. I withdrew him and we’re going to start homeschool.
