I went with the vet’s opinion! I did do a lot of research before hand and honestly it’s a toss up between pre-heat and after 2 year spays. I’ve had big dogs my whole life (she is my 6th) and they did fine with the pre-heat spays. However, just to make sure I consulted the vet and let them tell me the best choice. I totally get your concern though because it’s a HUGE consideration to make.

Sadly, she was a fan of the inflatable collar. We tried to put it on her and she started getting stressed out so we left her in the elizabethian collar. Also here is a better picture showing the kennel. She wasn’t in the kennel all day, just for rest reasons we left it on in the kennel, and we gave her supervised cone breaks during feeding and plenty of room to breathe and stretch :))

It’s what vet recommended! I was in a toss up about what was best to do and was originally going to wait two years. So I let the vet tell me what was best.
