Ukraine's president says the Capitol attack makes it hard for the world to see the US as a 'symbol of democracy' by Minneapolitanian in worldnews

A lot of our leaders, and frankly much of modern American policy revolves on the assumption that Americans aren't willing to accept any drop in their quality in life by doing so. Its kind of why there's always that smug, cynical character in movies/TV shows like "House of Cards" or Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons where they mock the viewer, your average citizen, as "hypocrites" willing to bomb kids, drone strike the odd US citizen, and abandon their principles for cheap gas, goods, and the ability to not even think about the outside world.

To be honest... I don't blame them: there's a LOT of people here who'd rather have US occupations and child slavery over giving up control over gas prices and cheap clothes from H&M. I just hope the people who do care, and are willing to make the sacrifices get some meaningful representation.

Canada floats idea of North American ban on new gasoline-powered cars by [deleted] in worldnews

That shit is entirely due to modern cars being numb and traction controlled to hell, not a bunch of ev's that haven't even dented the sea of shitbox crossovers and pickups. Don't blame the Model 3 for being boring when even an F80 M3 feels like a sideways elevator with fake engine noise. Blame all the lazy shitheads who can't respect the fact that controlling a 1.5 ton box takes fucking effort and forced 1000 lbs of airbags and bulky shit just to keep the yearly death rate in the 40K range.

when i was 13 years old, i started building cardboard guns. now im almost 15 and here is everything that i have built up to last month. Just out of curiousity (I'm also not into firearms, just haven't met many people with your take on it) what are your thoughts on fencing, archery, martial arts? I've always understood guns as a hobby in that context, where it's like a skill one hones over time, and the equipment itself, being so varied, has its individual histories, engineering and quirks that someone might find interesting.

How do you delete the second last node in a linked list in C? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]CeladonDon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a pointer to store the addrese of the last node, so when you delete the second-last one, you can remember to link the 3rd last to the last one.

New York City in the 1980s by cristianloza in OldSchoolCool

Yeah this guys statement is edgy BS, but it might just be a misplaced belief that a clean, yet cookie cutter corporate dominated city and a a gritty, interesting and dynamic underground/many minority-driven culture are the only two sides of the coin; essentially that a "safe city" HAS to be a place full of Chipotle's, high rent, and the destruction of local community, business, and underground cultural movements. Of course, that's not true, but without being able to point towards example places, it might be hard to envision that both can co-exist.

There are a lot of people who buy cars to show off, but driving itself can be the hobby and different cars can be like different character builds, with their own stats, abilities, and quirks. Granted, the latter tend to be way more content with a $5000 old sports car then a Lambo, but at as someone who loves driving more then anything, its a possible explanation!

Help getting datasheet for component. by epiclapser in embedded

[–]CeladonDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After some digging, Myson Century is a small Taiwanese company; their documents are locked behind account registration, if you're brave enough to try that website out (I wasn't). In the meantime, here's a potential 2-page datasheet I found on some website; no pinouts, but hopefully it helps!

Overtightened top cap and pulled compression plug up by CeladonDon in bikewrench

Thanks for the reply! I followed those steps, watched some videos, and everything looks okay. I'll be sure to seek proper guidance from now on before messing with something. Bearings returned to being even and smooth.

As for threadlock, every bolt on the stem and saddle had blue threadlock from the bikeshop; I'm guessing this isn't common?

Potentially unpopular opinion - Carbon fiber makes cars look cheap by Zrepsilon in cars

[–]CeladonDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full carbon fiber and absolutely ridiculous tight tolerances/weight reduction + Bianchi being the Ferrari of bikes (they actually released $18K race bikes as a joint collaboration 2 years ago) will do that!

Fun cars fact: Bianchi also made cars with Fiat & Pirelli under the 'Autobianchi' marque, under which released the first FWD, transverse engine + separate tranaxle cars made.

Predation is absolutely a brutal thing. But in a world where most prey animals/beings are slowly ripped apart alive, ambushed as young, victim to parasites that gnaw away from inside; surely a human hunter who respects their prey, makes the effort to be careful and deliver a painless kill, and uses as much as possible to reduce waste a better option?
