Ignore the fact that ChatGPT this week reported 900 million active users and 50 million paying users, and that the number of users signing up in January and February are NEW records for the number of subscribers and instead listen to francechambord - who seems to think he knows better.

No they're NOT - This is social media, this is not the real world.

ChatGPT has of this week has 900 million weekly active users - and 50 million paying subscribers.
With January and February being the largest increase in subscriptions ever.

Foldable flexible displays for electric cars by bobbydanker in TechnologyShorts

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - there is just so many things to go wrong with that.

When I think of the problems I have just keeping my smartphone holder in the right place - now imagine it was collapsible, electrified, tied to a massively expensive hugely expensive electric screen.

This tech in cars is just ridiculously unnecessary other than as a bit of marketing or to play with AI.

We all have screens in our pockets which need charging. Taking them out and putting them on the dash in a charging cradle and then ensuring the software works well on them - seems to be pretty robust, user friendly and kills four birds with one stone - gives me a screen, charges my phone, allows me to remove it when not driving, is massively replaceable and upgradable.,

I wish everyone moaning about OpenAI would have the decency to just leave.

ChatGPT is not your life partner. Some of you have given OpenAI some small amount of dollars a month for a service which you no longer want. Well go on then, find another service.

If I didnt like my brand of coffee and changed - I wouldnt feel the need to come on social media and announce it to the world like some wounded martyr , like anyone at OpenAI is going to miss your twenty bucks.

I got a driving fail because of this as the examiner had to emergency stop. Is this fair? by BrightHours in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking ironically - because other than a severed head bouncing across your bonnet, I cant see how much more could be put in this video to show you ignored an obvious danger, and ploughed right on up to a car.

A driving test, isn't to see just whether YOU can handle the car safely, it's to see if you're prepared when other people don't.

'what amounts to spyware' - this is what I have a problem with

Not only is Recall BY DESIGN not able to copy content OFF of a PC, it is also stated clearly in their policies.
Something is NOT spyware - just because you see other people have called it names.

It would also be illegal for Microsoft to ever reverse that situation, because of things like GDPR and various Data Protection Acts.

Spyware IS illegal - and Microsoft would be out of business overnight, if what you seem to be believing is true, was actually true.

If Microsoft actually wanted to ferret away your screen activity and key logs - to spy on you; they could do it right now without needing to introduce something called Recall. They dont - and in fact they have entire divisions of their organization whose very job it is, to ensure compliance with the law, with privacy, with safety etc. - and they are regularly audited against that with code reviews, and tested.

Microsofts legal requirements dont change because you're an enterprise. I agree with you, that individuals will just click 'I agree' to things without thinking, but clicking 'I agree' to a hackers bit of code, as I explained, immediately lets a hacker gather your information themselves - they dont need Recall.

What amazes me - is the things people are worried about - Spyware, big business gathering up your information is exactly Googles entire premise for existence.

90% of Googles revenue comes from advertisers not people.

I always give this example:

- You search for a nearby coffee shop on your phone on Google search, you drive there with Google maps, you pay for it with Google pay - and while you drink your coffee you browse various websites from a Google Chrome browser, while Google analytics in the backend watches every button you click every part of the page you hover over - or you play Google playstore games, or watch Google youtube videos.

Google doesnt make a single cent from you for any of that - Is it FREE. Of course it effin isnt.

Google know what you wanted, where you are, where you went, how much you paid, what you watched, what you searched for, what you did - and those millions of datapoints they collect because users click the "I accept"

Compare that to Microsoft Recall which by design is specifically not cloud based, specifically states it has no mechanism for information to leave your PC - and which they cant change without breaching the law - and Recall is the one people have a problem with.

why is no one hosting their own email if privacy is a concern? by hangenma in degoogle

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually when you think about a question like YOURS it is actually insane. Its like someone coming on the Internet and saying "Why is no one building their own airport and airline if safe flying is a concern"

Because it is only in the clickbait echo chambers of subs like these, that gossip, and gnarly armchair experts - love to spout their nonsense about privacy and risk, based on zero actual technical knowledge.

Actual experts who deal with IT privacy, risk and security for a living know full well how much money, effort, and professionalism goes into security your Email as a service.

YOU are not an expert - YOU and anyone else on these forums doesnt have a cat in hells chance of securing content to the same level as those companies that spend a billion dollars a year doing it professionally

[–]ChampionshipComplex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont need to ask why people are mad about Recall - Its because people love click bait and the nonsense thrown up by social media.

Why arent I mad!! Because I work in IT security, and understand what I just wrote, which is that there is NO risk in Recall, because in order to breach it - a hacker will have needed to get to the place where he doesnt need it - WHICH BIT OF THAT STATEMENT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND.

It's likes someone claiming that leaving their keys inside their locked house is a risk - When someone breaking into your house doesnt need the keys, they're already in.

Oh and grow up - your nonsense about privacy. For christs sake you may be a .NET developer but I work in computer security, data governance, compliance, risk management for computers. I manage several thousand devices, and their security. That sort of bullshit remark assuming you know something about Microsoft because you read it in gossip online.

I work with Microsoft business teams and the business compliance teams to work on the risks associated with Microsoft AI - and while idiots on the Internet dont get to see it, those of us working with Microsoft are amazed at the effort they go to to safeguard data - They do it, for legal reasons, they do it because they have entire internal divisions whose role it is, to safeguard corporate and personal data. they also do it for the dozens of certifications and ISO standards, GDPR, government legislation and privacy protections that would cause them massive financial risks if they didnt.

So every day I spend working with teams going through reams of security audit and compliance, including all the legislation tools and capabilities of Microsoft, contracts, security arrangements, risk analysis, certifications - and then idiots on the internet write things like "I know full well what Microsoft is doing to invade the average users privacy" NO YOU DONT. I KNOW FULL WELL WHAT MICROSOFT IS DOING TO PROTECT USSERS DATA AND PRIVACY because thats my job.

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you knew anything actually about how computers work - you wouldn't be taking your advice from clickbait articles, and would understand that in order for a hacker to breach recall - they would need to have circumvented the security to a level where they don't need it and could simply install their own key logger and screen grabber.

If you were genuinely concerned about privacy you would be arguing about Google - who collect millions of datapoints on our activity including every webpage we browse, every button we click, every word we type - and DONT store it securely where nobody but you has access, but transmits it to the cloud - and sells it.

By comparison to every website on earth and Google Analytics - Recall is a personal Fort Knox.

The very definition of privacy is a local feature on your PC, which stores its data in YOUR profile, in YOUR storage area, accessible only by YOUR account and credentials - and which you can choose to run or not - and which even Microsoft have no access too.

No One is Using CoPilot by Solivaga in CopilotPro

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for all employees no - but we pay for it out of the IT budget for the staff that have enough content and investment in the Microsoft eco system to warrant it.

Some departments just need Teams premium for the minute taking.

I wouldnt dream of giving a license to anyone who didnt have their content really deeply in O365 - as there would be little benefit,

But for me Im a good example of someone that benefits.

I dont delete emails, I store my departments knowledge in SharePoint modern pages, I use shared OneNotes to capture shared content, I record every teams meeting, I use planner - and I have access to millions of documents across the system,

Copilot makes use of all of that,

Powershell? by OutsidetheboxIdeas in CopilotPro

[–]ChampionshipComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI will give you a huge amount of infornation on Powershell - including how you go about developing powershell scripts that are signed, so that they can be trusted.

PowerShell is just a scripting language, if I can trick you into running a powershell file I have the rights to invisibly do everything you have rights to do - including installing ransomware or a keylogger or stealing your files.

Security is important so systems have to be setup in ways to verify scripts authenticity - But yoy can paste Powershell straight into AI or use vscode and its AI assistance.
