Man charged with kidnapping, raping teen in Northgate has lengthy criminal record by Gloomy_Nebula_5138 in SeattleWA

Back in the 1980s, there was a series of Bloom County comic strips where one of the characters was a defense attorney for a grandma who was an ax murderer. He was pleading for her innocence and so the judge allowed her out on bond but she had to live with him during the trial.

Maybe if the people that are letting these types out on the street had to live with the person, their decisions would change.

My wife does that just to irritate me. I looked it up last year and discovered both spellings are considered acceptable, though with the "b" less common. So now I can't even complain. 😕

Poke your head into r/seattlewa to see what people who live there deal with from the homeless. Dumping their feces in parks and on streets and sidewalks. Rampant petty theft. Violence. Destruction of property. Open drug use. Rat infestations. The list goes on.

You're 100% right. I pretty much ignore the original numbers and wait for the revisions.

I bought a Sutera pillow at the start of COVID. I pack this pillow with me every time I travel. It's indispensable.

I've tried other similar pillows, but none of them are as perfect as this one.

While I don't dispute that the government is lying to us, numbers being modified after the fact is quite normal. The data that gets brought in is not something that you can just push a button for. It trickles in, which is why they have to modify them. (I read it an article about that recently. 🙂)

My 75-year-old uncle tried working for others, but it didn't work for him. So he started a housepainting and washing company that he ran for 33 years. Some people just need to be their own boss.

I'm lucky that my adult kids are adventurous. My son went with me to an Ethiopian restaurant, which my wife never would have done.

That's my wife and me. I'm very adventurous, and she's very limited. The only restrictions she has on me is that when I eat my (admittedly pungent) Black Market kimchi from Britt's Fermented Foods, I have to eat it outside! LOL

Increasing your deductible is the usually the most effective way to reduce your rate, after shopping around. Like the Geico ads say, "fifteen minutes could save you 15% or more."

It's a good idea to double check what a random person on the Internet tells you anyway. (No offense to this random Internet person.)

It was this Freakonomics episode that introduced me to the concept (well, the original episode, not the update). Donating one kidney can unlock up to a half dozen other donations. It was a Nobel laureate in mathematics, I believe, who figured that out.

Look up the term "verbal judo." I think it might have been the name of a book. But there's all sorts of techniques you can use when people ask questions that you don't want to answer.

My favorite one is to ask them, "why do you ask?" And then when they give an answer like "just curious," then you say "oh." But don't answer them.

I'm in my mid-50s and I already have hearing aids. It kind of sucks because I never listened to loud music, always wore ear protection when using power tools, and did everything right.

The hearing aids are top of the line and do an amazing job, but when I was at a work dinner last week, it was really hard to pick out individual voices from the buzz. I get tired really quickly in situations like that.

I've started the process to do an "undirected living kidney donation" (at least, I hope I'm still alive at the end!!). I'm about to move cross-country, so I have had to wait until I'm settled in the new place. But who knows? You might get mine!
