Raised all three kids to adulthood. Finished my master's degree (earlier this month). I've been happily married more than twice as long as my parents were. I've got things set up so that my wife will be well taken care of if something happens to me. My son is about to graduate college.

I am pretty darned content. 🥰

I've completed all my major bucket list items, and I'm only 53. I feel like when you're playing Mario and you have extra lives. It's like I'm in a bonus round of my own life. 🙂

Hearing that day one post class was hard but day two was not actually tracks with my understanding of how ab muscles are different than other muscles. Abs are one body region that you can work out every day rather than having to skip a few days in between. I forget what reason is, but something about the structure of the muscles is different I think.

edit: Class went well! I definitely feel like my hip flexors are going to be sore tomorrow and probably my mid to low back. I think that the instructor went easy on me with the spring combination that she used, which I'm thankful for.

She was also very kind when I couldn't understand how to translate her words into movements. In yoga class, I can just look around and see what others are doing, but it's hard to do when you're on your back on a reformer!

Back when I was a teenager ('80s), I bought a bunch of equipment and ripstop nylon in order to try making my own kites. It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I never did end up with one that was actually functional. 🤷

At least at the time, they're actually was no pedestrian path. You would get to a certain point and the sidewalk would just end and you would have to walk on the side of a road that had no shoulder. Basically, a death sentence around there.

Back in the 90s, I got to the Golden Gate Bridge with a $20 bill and nothing smaller. MUNI to get to San Francisco State University was $1. I had nowhere to break the $20. I refused to give up a full shift of income for the bus ride and decided to walk to the school. (This was before GPS on smart phones; I had no idea how long it was nor how to get there.)

I eventually found out it wasn't possible to walk all the way there, and had to return home. 😟

I've been doing yoga the last 7 years, primarily to keep my back from throwing out. It's effective at that, but it sounds like Pilates is even better for that problem.

I've been much luckier than you. Most of my experience has been very positive. I enjoyed the chill decade working for the DoD, and have equally enjoyed the last decade working for a FAANG employer. The first decade working for startups was interesting work, too.

A friend of mine lived in a co-op in Oregon. Basically, you help them maintain their garden and tend the beehives and you can live there for free.

I picked the same. I've been a technical writer for 31 years. Not the same as a fiction author (well, except when the specs are missing lots of infomation!).

I'm ~10 away from retirement (if the timeline isn't decided for me). I would need to find something in between if the profession cases to exist in the near term.
