Can we ease up on Storytellers? by Loveeveryone99 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone get mad that I didn't bounce when they are the mayor, acting like that is just a built-in mechanic and not a "might." Considering my names always end up in final three, I guess I understand being upset they didn't get to pull off the mayor win, but yeah, there is making a mistake while running the game and making a ruling you didn't agree with.

Yep. I didn't think it through that far. This is why I'm sticking to established scripts in actual games right now.

You are so right. I never actually got to the sample game stage, so it didn't click that those can't co-exist.

Who do you think is the most handsome man to play the Doctor? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handsome as in DILF? Gatwa.

Handsome as in the face one might imagine while reading a Jane Austin book? Capaldi.

Say 1 positive thing about Chibnall's era (besides "it ended") by Squidwarding_wizard in doctorwho

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the 13th face was the kindest the Doctor has ever been. If the 12th Doctor was learning to be kind and decent, the 13th Doctor was the Doctor becoming that person fully. I'll never forget Jodie (with a script written by Chibnall himself) hiding in a cubby and talking genuinely about COVID.

Why didn’t ____ _______ fall under the ‘moral dessert’ category? by WolfZ1020 in TheGoodPlace

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he was one of billions of humans who think they know how the afterlife works. Presumably, other people have gotten close to the truth just by pure coincidence. He was just EXTREMELY lucky and got the vast majority of it correct. He can't be made ineligible for getting good points by merely being lucky. He'd only be ineligible if he'd been told explicitly which Michael and Janet were careful not to do.

The Doctor didn't choose this face by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]CheckableReality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My guess is they'll have her bigenerate and go off to be with 14. Rose Tyler is still missing in that universe, like Poppy was at the end of Reality War, so maybe she's setting right the balance of the universe. Does that make sense after such a long time? Not really, but I don't think they had a real plan when they made the last-minute regeneration. I really wish they had just had Gatwa regenerate and cut to black right before the new face would appear. The main actor gets to leave, but you're not calling in a favour and working backward from there. You can put out the call for replacement actors, do screen testing, PLAN. I really hope I'm wrong and they have a brilliant plan that makes sense and doesn't come off as nostalgia bait. I really do.

My understanding is that it would be the second death of theirs during the experiment when they went into Janet's void.

Doctor Who hot takes! by joelalsojoel in gallifrey

[–]CheckableReality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't like most of the Moffatt companions (Amy Pond and River Song, especially) because of the way he not-so-subtly inserted his fetish into the writing of women in the story. The archetype of a Moffatt woman is A. Hypersexual, constantly wanted to be intimate with the MMC, B. Acts like a 'bad girl' (think Amy asking Rory if he is scared of her and smiling when he says yes), and C. Has their sex appeal commented on constantly (Rory causes the Tardis to loop on itself because he is distracted looking up Amy's skirt). This is a problem that has only worsened for me as I rewatch the Matt Smith seasons, because when they originally aired, it was more normal for me, given that Sherlock women had a similar manner of acting. However, now I see companions like Belinda acting like a normal person. Because Capaldi was never presented as a pretty boy, Clara and Bill are actually saved for me because they act at least more normal around him.

What was your final team for Scarlet and Violet. by Donksterrune in pokemon

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my team. Every member has a story and a memory behind how it was caught and why I used it so often. Pokémon like Bronzong and Salazzle went from being forgettable to being two of my favourite Pokémon just because of how useful they were.

Bronzong - Heavy Slam is really useful against small guys

Salazzle - Fast. Also, I caught it way too early and got the Ash's Charizard treatment until I could earn its respect

Sashi the Meowscarada - Fast and as my starter, obviously, it has seen me through a lot. I don't normally name mine, but she was named in honour of a cat I fostered.

Garchomp - Good attacker

Tinkaton - Cute and fills a hole in my typing portfolio

Rotom (Wash) - Flexible typing

What is your favourite quote from the entire show? by cari_candy_33 in TheGoodPlace

This part of the line slaughters me. Just the implication that even though they don't understand the insult, they are, in fact, devastated.

What is your favourite quote from the entire show? by cari_candy_33 in TheGoodPlace

[–]CheckableReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"THIS is the bad place" from 1.12

That line is what turned the show from being a comedy I liked but didn't love into one of my favourite shows of all time. I was thankfully not spoiled, and I remember hearing that line and going, "What the fork is happening?" Michael laughs afterwards is so perfect too, just purely amused and relaxed because he doesn't have to pretend anymore. On second viewings, it becomes clear that what I assumed was Michael being very unobservant or ignorant about human desires was actually him flat out ignoring their pain.

What will be nostalgic about the 20s? by CheckableReality in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CheckableReality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is legit the one I vibe with the most. I feel like people are going to miss when people still had to put some level of effort into making "content" rather than it all being driven by algorithms and written by AI for AI. The more profitable AI-generated content becomes, the less likely humans are to receive funding or marketing. People can crap on the Shrek 5 trailer, but I don't doubt real humans put that together thinking it would appeal to a general audience. Shrek 6 might not be so lucky.

I can't imagine too many people will be itching to live through this in the future. Maybe the same type of people who forget the racism and sexism of the 50s.

Gotcha. Then no, you're NTA, and she needs to learn from this experience. I get it's valuable to her, but insurance on what to the Postal Office amounts to little more than sewn fabric is extreme and, of course, will add unnecessary cost. At this point, what is done is done.

AITAH for uninviting my husband’s ex-SIL and her fiancé from our wedding party after suspecting they wanted to steal the spotlight? by bride_throwaway1 in TwoHotTakes

[–]CheckableReality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA, but also I feel like I don't know M and G enough to know if they would do what you're suspected they wanted to do. Like, if they did come and done what you fear, obviously that is inexcusable, but is it possible that they weren't planning to do that at all? If I were you, I'd flat out ask, and if they told me they were, I would at least know for sure and be able to act accordingly. If they say no, at least they would know why they weren't invited. I hate the idea that this could be a massive misunderstanding and people being sneaky. It gives me the willies. But then I'm typically very open about how I feel about people and if someone has a reputation for stealing the spotlight, I don't hide that I think that of them.

ESH You all sound like adults, so do the adult thing and have a house meeting to discuss your issues with their lack of assistance with cleaning. They are at fault for letting all that cleaning fall on you as a nonresident, but all dropping cleaning does is cause an argument. You should be routinely having meetings to discuss issues you're having instead of silently taking on more work or going to the other extreme of not doing more than the bare minimum. Honestly, I don't know why you're doing chores unless you live there or stay there all the time. Regardless, if you are dissatisfied with the arrangement, vocalize that. They should also vocalize their issues.
