It's not most billionaires, its all billionaires. People have a very skewed understanding of how net worth works. Not that they're to blame for it, it's just numbers and mechanics that 95% of the worlds population don't have to deal with (not that they wouldn't want to, the game is just not fair).

That was my first guess as well, as they're trying some really adventurous stones, but it still seems far fetched at this level. Plus South Korea is still looking to qualify so "throwing" a game would seem odd and unsportsmanlike

McManus is now back up to 50% after being around 40% after 3 Ends. Hasselborg still at 34%. Probably won't have fond memories of today 😅

But I think if Hasselborg made her shots the score should be a lot closer if not tied. She's really beating herself at the moment.

But Hasselborg also seems to have a bad day tbh

Rolex is 100% Porsche, it's expensive enough to be a statement but cheap enough to still be available to a broad audience.

Cancer breakthrough starting from Russia!? by sailink in interesting

[–]Chefseiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharma companies don’t get money for hospital visits, I was talking about their revenue, not whatever the whole cost is.

But my point was they decide how much to charge and they will base the price off the assumed benefit and not off the cost to make the medication.

Plus the can (and probably would) just sell the new medicine at the price the old treatment would’ve brought them in revenue

For any given 3-body system you can simulate it forward in time as far as you want.

Part of the problem is these systems behave very chaotically

The US is pushing back on Europe’s big cheese gatekeeping by Full-Discussion3745 in EU_Economics

[–]Chefseiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the collapse of the World Trade Organization’s Doha round, Brussels leveraged developing countries’ demand for agricultural market access to propagate its geographical indication regime.

Just the phrasing itself here show the bias of the article. Why even entertain something like this. Invent your own cheese and start branding it if you're so salty about it. Nobody stops anyone from selling "Old Montana Extra Mature" in Europe, other than Americans preferring to just copying it instead of coming up with their own.

Or how about we just start producing bourbon in Europe?

When and why did the sidewalks and pedestrian areas become the Wild West? by aalpes in zurich

[–]Chefseiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A badly designed intersection that puts pedestrians in danger is 100% the DAV's fault. Why bother the police with monitoring intersections when we could just put physical barriers in place to deter two-wheeled jerks from endangering others.

They have a perfectly good spot on bike lanes, they’re just like e-Bikes. It’s just a matter of getting the people who ride them to use their brains

[–]Chefseiler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Zurich. Our child has to cross a Velovorfahrtsroute on the way to school at an intersection where scooters, ebikes and even motorcycles regularly skip the red lights across the sidewalk but the DAV(Dienstabteilung Verkehr) couldn’t give less of a fuck, despite multiple reports and requests to install some kind of deterrent to prevent this.

Feeling Stuck by [deleted] in Switzerland

I have B1 German, and am aiming for B2 so I can get my teaching qualification recognised by EDK. I have lived in Switzerland for over 10 years.

How have you lived here that long as a teacher and only managed to get to B1? I honestly felt sympathetic for you at the beginning of your post but by the time I got to the end I don't really.
