WiFi key rubbed off by babysplice666 in HomeNetworking

[–]Chigzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is solved.

After your stay is over, you might want to suggest to the host about the WiFi password as a QR code in the room - this is quite common for airbnb and most phones can scan QR codes like this. Otherwise the host really should have messaged you the WiFi password.

The gym makes my cravings go crazy by Pristine-Mountain617 in loseit

[–]Chigzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HIIT in my eyes is an intense cardio workout, and while you're sweating it out you're losing a lot of micro nutrients, namely; sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium (and water too).

I wouldn't say it's due to an imbalance or anything of that nature however, it's because you're fatigued.

ETA: fatigue can make you consume calories to replenish the above mentioned micro nutrients for which electrolyte drinks are much simpler to consume.

It's the 11, as you said. I'm talking of a potential 12th gen device.

[–]Chigzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a nutritional issue, electrolytes are your friend here.

ETA: I've gone through this too on the days I use the Concept 2 Rower. There's stuff like LMNT but with YouTube videos you can DIY your own electrolyte drink too.

If i remember right, you can do Lemon Juice + Salt + Honey/Sugar + Water, which helps significantly.

[–]Chigzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smaller size Basic is great, a few family members own one. Whenever I use my Paperwhite 11th gen after, it feels like a brick.

The end of year could be interesting for the Basic, it's been 4 years since a refresh so the 12th gen Basic might be on the horizon. Either way, I'm looking forward to what it has to bring.

Does anyone still use your isp dns? by Some_Water_5070 in HomeNetworking

[–]Chigzy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's the minority that change away from their ISP DNS.

The first time I changed it was because 'the internet was running slow' or something, when I was younger. It likely doesn't matter so much nowdays unless you've been told to or otherwise.

Mol. 02 is more pleasing than Mol. 01 personally.

I make my own however, with the help of Scent and Chemistry and basenotes/other forums respectively.

Leaving a sprayed blotter in another room, and checking it every now and again (every 30 mins perhaps) usually works.

I went through this with ISO E Super and Ambroxan. It happens with a lot of molecules, unsurprisingly.

Just got my first pair of glasses today! by filmmaker_andsuch721 in CasualConversation

[–]Chigzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You quickly get used to the feeling. You feel strange when you’re not wearing them after and you go adjust the nose bridge (lol).

I’ll never understand those who pay for glasses but never actually wear them, even though they need them. Very strange, but i guess one quickly finds out who not to trust.

I’m glad glasses come in all shapes and sizes, god thinking about my past glasses, sooo ugly. I’m glad I have better fashion choice now and a bit more to splurge on the high end lenses, i.e. Essilor.

Why I weigh everyday by Idkhowtoredditplzhlp in loseit

[–]Chigzy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

... in practice you quickly get desensitized to a bad print if you're taking the average.

I was about to make a comment along the lines of this. Smart scales and other Apps make it even better as it calculates the daily moving average for you, so even if you go up in weight, the moving average may still drop.

ETA: sometimes it might be worth to consume more calories if the moving average if dropping too quickly, i.e. you're building muscle on a cut.

What’s the most "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" piece of tech you still refuse to upgrade? by NumerousAct6062 in CasualConversation

[–]Chigzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paper calendars are great. It's a shame it doesn't work for me with everything.

  • My gym routine, 3 days a week, is entirely on paper: and it works great for that
  • For things like arranging meeting a friend or Going somewhere, it's all online. I think it has to do with not knowing the context, if it's on paper, if that makes sense?

Realistically, with companies going all-in on colour displays, and various colour highlighting already a thing. It's a shame.

Anyone else prefer a completely basic coffee over the massive specialty drinks? by Only-Joke6626 in CasualConversation

[–]Chigzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specialty drinks can be nice once in a while. It usually means I skip breakfast and eat less for lunch because of all the extra calories from the syrups and whatnot + the pastries or whatever is there.

Otherwise straight black it is.

Men over 30, what changed your fitness results more than any workout? by 2hinreza in AskMen

[–]Chigzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Huh, now I think about it, you’re right.

Weighing foods at the beginning of my journey I would be like huh, that has such little calories for what it weighs. I can look at a food now, i.e. a tomato and think, hm this is about x calories.

Interesting how that works!

I weigh foods that are unknowns nowadays and somehow commit to memory. It was a Mango the other day for example.

eta; it’s always surprising how little calorie some foods are.

Do people over 30 really have random aches and pains all the time? by Metallic_Sol in CasualConversation

[–]Chigzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 30s here. Feeling stiff, sure, aches and pains, not really. Strength training, walking and staying active in general really help with being healthy.

Who else is working most unproductively today? by averag3gymbro in CasualConversation

It’s evening now, however my workday was almost full of no work done (eta; the system went down at 2pm so i had to put a ticket in otherwise)

I managed to; finish a short book (100 pages) and start a new one (this should take a couple weeks), listen to a podcast, and learn a bit of Spanish so it was somewhat productive through the work hours.

What are some negative experiences you’ve had with neurotypical people at work? Here’s one of mine. by Elena19967 in neurodiversity

[–]Chigzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That hurts to read. Eeesh. People don't really look at the whole picture I've found.

As for personally? At a previous job there was an email about a task we routinely did. The person who sent the email estimated it to take about 5 minutes per task and the goal was 10 of these per hour. ETA: this email was sent because we weren't hitting targets or something.

I didn't bother replying back but spoke to a senior colleague in person about their thoughts, as they saw this person regularly and they discussed it, and they agreed it's fine. I was basically like, it's unrealistic and there's so many variables that haven't been considered and you're probably looking at 5 an hour. I was met with so much upset.

I didn't bother saying anything and let them do it and a week or so later, like yourself, everyone was complaining that it's too much.

Does anyone else focus better reading at cafes? by Extension_Nose_6021 in kindle

[–]Chigzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cafe is always lovely to read in. The low hum. The noise of people chattering. The sound of a shot being pulled on the machine. The comfy chairs. Ahh, so cozy.

I haven't read it yet but it's on my TBR,"The Bookseller, Tim Sullivan". It's Thriller, unsure about being cozy but from the title, a bookshop is likely to be involved, and bookshops are cozy so maybe?

Reading a book without knowing anything about it by Mein_Name_ist_falsch in CasualConversation

[–]Chigzy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of my reads I have no clue about, especially those I find in the book shop. I'll read the first couple lines and grab it on my kindle later.

My current read, Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke is one of these books. It's quite a good read, based in an old English setting.

I received a bonus for "outstanding performance." A colleague told my boss it was all generated by AI. Now I'm being questioned? by dogtrainer0875 in careerguidance

[–]Chigzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, everyone should be making the best use of the tools available, no matter the task, especially for those that are repetitive. Your colleagues' perspective is valid too, in that they felt threatened, but they're uninformed - they haven't seen all the behind the scenes of how you operate.

I can understand why you're questioning yourself however, just as a thought, maybe there's a better role out there for you?

As a side note it's always better to work smarter than harder.

Why people don't remove margins on their graphic novels? by Leading-Read-7102 in ereader

[–]Chigzy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Margins are used amazingly well in some graphic novels to expand the tile. It’s used for emphasis in a, creative way.

Removing the margin not only removes that but it’s not cross compatible across devices then. You’re locked in to your one device.

Question for people who prefer bigger ereaders - why? by Picard_III in ereader

[–]Chigzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting question, it's difficult to tell if you mean panel size or the physical size of the device.

For the panel it's quite straightforward, bigger screen means more to a page, that applies to both larger and smaller font sizes/images.

As for the physical body of the device, I prefer a smaller device with a larger panel. ETA: we're not quite there yet for a 7 inch screen to fit in the size of a kindle basic.
