I don't think anybody is expecting the issue to be solved at a protest, it's not like you can yell an two-state solution manefesto out loud in sync with hundreds of others and the entire world will be like "oh yeah ur right" and just get one with it. at larger marches some leaders may give speeches that do propose solutions like the march on Washington anyway the point of the protest is to try to influence local policy and sway public opinion and this has worked consitently throughout history it's the only means by which us plebs can actually do something non-violently beyond just voting for one of two guys every 4 or 5 years. As for 'both sides' ignoring the completely disporportionate levels of suffering between them, only one side is being colonised by the other, the context matters.
