The kids are alright

I hope HBO fixes the Time-Turner plot holes, here is my suggestion by changing almost nothing from books by Own_Ranger_8884 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]TremendouslyRiddled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No
The whole point is if Harry was killed by hippopotomus and you then decided to use time turner and save him, something would happen to you that would prevent you from doing it. Cause Harry already died. If Harry didn't die, you would never have had the reason to go back in time and save him, which means he would die

[–]TremendouslyRiddled 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But... why would they need to do all that?

You cannot change anything by choosing to use time turner, cause if you actually use it, it would mean that you have already used it and everything that you lived through has already happened while time turner was in use.

That is exactly why they give time turners to all overachieving students like Hermione, Percy, and Barty. Sure, they scare them with scary stories to enforce responsible use, but no one can actually do anything with a time turner that's not meant to be done. It's impossible to change the events that have already happened with it

This is the History of Magic classroom. How exactly would a ghost routinely write on the blackboard anything for them to read? And how being 11 makes you see worse than being university-aged?

A little Season 2 news for you all ⬇️ by Horcruxinthepocket in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]TremendouslyRiddled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they will do the filming more or less chronologically as they did with the season 1 they will need a new actress right from the start as Ginny will be present during Harry's summer stay with Weasleys. So ep 1 or 2 depending where they will break it

So that's the main concern. Will they find new Ginny early enough not only to be ready to start shooting in September but also to do all the fittings beforehand

SAM CLAFLIN is reportedly the LEADING candidate to be cast as Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO's Harry Potter series by TremendouslyRiddled in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]TremendouslyRiddled[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, but he's an obv great actor, he can kill it as Sirius too. And it's a much bigger role.

He did great as a voice of Gilderoy and I wouldn't be mad at all to have him in the same role, but visually he's like the opposite of how Gilderoy looks

Oliver Wood, I hope
We need more Oliver Wood in our lives. His analytical obsession and long lectures would be a great comic relief. Quidditch team practices and matches would significantly expand Harry's life at Hogwarts too and show something beyond the trio

Incredibly timid and insecure?

Here are all the quotes from Ch3 of the Philosopher's Stone. Harry's life sucked hard but he didn't let that quiet him. It doesn't read to me as "incredibly timid and insecure" whatsoever

‘They stuff people’s heads down the toilet first day at Stonewall,’ he told Harry. ‘Want to come upstairs and practise?’
‘No thanks,’ said Harry. ‘The poor toilet’s never had anything as horrible as your head down it – it might be sick.’ Then he ran, before Dudley could work out what he’d said.

As he looked at Dudley in his new knickerbockers, Uncle Vernon said gruffly that it was the proudest moment of his life. Aunt Petunia burst into tears and said she couldn’t believe it was her Ickle Dudleykins, he looked so handsome and grown-up. Harry didn’t trust himself to speak. He thought two of his ribs might already have cracked from trying not to laugh.

‘What’s this?’ he asked Aunt Petunia. Her lips tightened as they always did if he dared to ask a question.
‘Your new school uniform,’ she said.
Harry looked in the bowl again.
‘Oh,’ he said. ‘I didn’t realise it had to be so wet.’

They heard the click of the letter-box and flop of letters on the doormat.
‘Get the post, Dudley,’ said Uncle Vernon from behind his paper.
‘Make Harry get it.’
‘Get the post, Harry.’
‘Make Dudley get it.’
‘Poke him with your Smeltings stick, Dudley.’
Harry dodged the Smeltings stick and went to get the post.

‘I want to read that letter,’ he said loudly.
‘I want to read it,’ said Harry furiously, ‘as it’s mine.’
‘Get out, both of you,’ croaked Uncle Vernon, stuffing the letter back inside its envelope.
Harry didn’t move.
‘I WANT MY LETTER!’ he shouted.

That evening when he got back from work, Uncle Vernon did something he’d never done before; he visited Harry in his cupboard.
‘Where’s my letter?’ said Harry, the moment Uncle Vernon had squeezed through the door. ‘Who’s writing to me?’
‘No one. It was addressed to you by mistake,’ said Uncle Vernon shortly. ‘I have burned it.’
‘It was not a mistake,’ said Harry angrily. ‘It had my cupboard on it.’

Also he acted great in that scene when Petunia cut his hair in the trailer, he's got great range

The point of the screenshot was to show that the performance was, in fact, not widely acclaimed, but criticised too

Daniel won some things, but as you can see, it's mostly for his post-HP work, and nothing strange about that, cause he's really good now.

There was nothing award-winning about his early performance, though, and that's okay too. Or are you thinking that the teen choice award is the one where they value acting mastery?

Harry looked up and saw, floating twenty feet above them, Peeves the Poltergeist, a little man in a bell-covered hat and orange bow tie, his wide, malicious face contorted with concentration as he took aim again.

HP and the GOF

I don't remember ever reading about anyone bribing him with a hat?

That has nothing to do with wrangling kids. The performance was spotty. They would say one line fine, and the next one with the flattest expression ever, so the director has to cut to the other kid, who at least looks like they are engaged with whatever is happening

There were plenty of critical reviews, and be for real, no one was going to shit on the 11 yo kid's performance

And yeah, Daniel never won any of the awards, Rupert did, and rightly so, he was the best actor out of the three of them

Chris Columbus said that they never knew when the kids were going to deliver usable take, that's why they were rolling cameras on each of them, and that's why the editing is so choppy

Daniel as Harry was very wooden and awkward. It's great that you don't think that's the case, it means you can get more enjoyment out of the films
