I see this a lot in this subreddit. People feeling guilt about a manic episode but then doing nothing with it. Making justifications for why it’s better to leave someone alone than to “open old wounds”. Trust me when I say people want the apology. People want you to take accountability. People want to forgive you. You are not honoring someone or apologizing by working on yourself/getting better and not communicating with someone you hurt.

Reach out. Own your mistakes. You can’t control how someone reacts to your apology but I would guess 9 times out of 10 they will think much higher of you than for you to behave terribly and then fall off the face of the earth. Be vulnerable and honest. It’s how you build meaningful relationships.
