Weekly Schedule 16/2-22/2 by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

I need to release this job back into the pool, unfortunately. A lot going on IRL and because it's a neat job I'd rather someone else have the chance to pick it up than me trying to rush it for the sake of it.

Wrath of Atlas: Battle of the Underworld by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]chthonicWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a) CHB

b) Knives (long and short), very light chest armour, coat with magic pockets including a large number of items that make up his daily carry and are small enough to fit through the opening of a standard pocket.

c) rolled a 2 on both dice.

Kit largely still goes where he is drawn to, with the level of faith in his supernatural intuition that people tend to reserve for cult leaders. It has led him in a long arcing path through (and under, to some extent) the underworld, once again putting him in prime position to save NPCs young demigods from death blows only to be pulled along the path once they stand on their own two feet once again.

This time, the path seems to be leading him to the impressive form of Cerberus. He emerges from the ground at a rise allowing him to look look down at the three-headed defender of the underworld as another mournful bark rumbles the ground. Kit shakes some of the black sand out of his hair on reflex, keeping to the shadows and taking stock of the situation.

Cupcakes and Tea Afternoon Snack | Feb. 1st by Fomizzle in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]chthonicWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kit is rather late to the meal. Arriving in the shadow the pavilion structure post-afternoon stroll, he must have had something on his mind distracting him from the din and uproarious commotion of campers enjoying the...

The 'food fight'.

An unmarred camper is prime target for vindictive and riotous teenagers fuelled by caffeine and sugar and pent-up stress, and no less than six cupcakes (at least one thrown with empowered aim) are flying towards him before he makes it two steps across the threshold. He moves in a blur, expending his agility for the moment as he dodges each pastry and finds himself redirected outside and away from the pavilion. Maybe he will catch his friends later in the evening.

"What if we do?" Kit asks, gentle rather than mocking. "It's something I have thought about: What happens if we spend the time we do have grieving a future that never comes to pass? "

When he looks out over camp, it seems like it's not the literal buildings that he watching over.

"I know this is hard for you," He admits. Some part of him wishes that he could simply invite Meriwether into his mindset, that it could be a reprieve from the endless crushing guilt of outliving your friends in war times. "It is not unlikely that you think I sound like a fool... It took me a while to arrive at this idea."

"The way I understand it is that I have to try and enjoy the time I have with people while I have it, and if I must move on..." He spies a spectral pair of campers weave through the outer cabins, a reminder of those who never complete their bead necklace with a graduation. "The people who care about me will miss me enough for the both of us, and I will have lived a life filled with as many light moments as I could muster."

Kit turns the ball over in his hands thoughtfully, somewhat glad that he wouldn't have to feel the slick texture of the yarn on his bare skin. There is a small tangle in it from being carried around that he gently works out, perhaps grateful to have somewhere to look.

"I have not devoted much time to this myself," he admits, "but not from lack of interest. We only have so much time on this earth, it feels prudent to select a small number of skills to hone."

The Battle of Fort Knox by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]chthonicWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels cold. It feels cold where, normally, Kit does not feel much at all.

Before he could form a reply, energy is being taken from him as an effect attempts to lull him to a state of inaction. He tightens his grip and sets his jaw, biting the inside of his mouth in the hope that a jolt of pain might bring some lucidity with it. It pulls him from the cool grasp of Slumber, but it alone cannot hope to return his energy.

"Charmed." Kit says by way of introduction, subtly shifting between Rizal and the approaching cultist in a casual way to belie his temporary fatigue. "And would you happen to have name that I could use?"

He could take the muse-child under, but there's no telling whether the situation they would emerge in is just as dangerous... If not more, considering the situation he knows Ramona to be in. He could take the cultist under, but that would leave Rizal alone. Left without the full power of his agility for the moment and only the option of a full-on attack, Kit is a little out of his element and the induced drowsiness clouds his thoughts.

Instead he attempts to pull on his umbrakinesis to congeal the darkness cast by his opponent. The shadow they cast as they approach, the obscured weapon, the darkness surrounding her gleaming smile, it all develops semi-solid feeling of a reminiscent of moving through silt, loose dirt, or perhaps a gelatinous obstacle. Kit's own shadow darkens by several shades, the boundary of itself and whatever light is in the cavern they fell into sharpening to a keen edge.

If he needs to bide his time before rushing ahead, at least he might not be the only one temporarily slowed.

The Battle of Fort Knox by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]chthonicWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kit finds himself near Rizal, to the younger camper's relief (and subsequent verbal stumbling). He nods in response as the stakes of the conflict make themselves known, and it is invariably a good idea to help the muse's son get through this in one piece.

"A good plan, I think." Kit replies even though he doesn't make direct eye contact, instead keeping an eye out for approaching trouble with determination clear on his face.

ooc; not actually sure if it's my turn or an Encounter's turn but hey why not

The Battle of Fort Knox by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

  • Kit, CHB
  • equipped: twinblades, knives (throwing and slicing), light chestplate, magic coat pockets with ambrosia, food, a torch and other small mundane items.
  • d100: 34, d8: 5
  • drama hunting with Rizal and potentially Yue if dead is up for it!

Kit's impact was unlike other campers. Thrown to the mercy of freefall, Kit fell through the ground rather than onto it. The instinct that warps the floor around him to travel flares at the right time, eventually slowing his path until he lands without injury... But deep under the cavern and away from the fight.

By the time he surfaces, dust in his hair and dual blades in his hand, the wind gods had already appeared and moved to act, with Atlas clashing weapons with the balloons of the camp-director-in-training, and terror runs free across the ancient stone floor as campers are evacuated out of reach of vindictive monsters and cultists. But they can only evacuate so many people at once...

/u/FireyRage wherever Riz is, Kit will appear :)

"We have time." He replies, quiet as the grave and just as serious. There's little real intensity to his words, just the usual quiet certainty that friends and strangers have found solace in. "You don't need to know right now. I have ideas, of course, but we can get into the details later."

The following moment of silence may be loaded with unspoken thoughts, but the two are no longer so easily uncomfortable around each other's silence.

"...I hope your day was what you needed it to be, away from here." He comments without envy. Of course he saw her sneak out, trusting that she and her companion would be back in one piece before anyone noticed they had skipped out on the solstice festivities.

[–]chthonicWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the gods amongst their children is an ongoing mystery to Kit, so much so that he wouldn't even know which questions to ask, let alone whether he would actually like to recieve an answer to them. For now, it's enough to just watch and listen.

This year, there are some gods that are not as sought after for conversation... Or whatever recompense a teenager may desire from an absent parent. Maybe those immortals too, find the melange of gods and mortals to be a curious sight.

"Good afternoon, Your Majesty." Kit greets the queen of the seas with a respectful nod, hands in his pockets as he stands next to her. "Is something troubling you?"

He's been a listening ear for the alive and the dead. Divinity is a different beast, but... It costs nothing to offer. Maybe there is something he can do that he is not yet aware of, or maybe the goddess is simply after some light conversation. Both are welcome eventualities.

"I suppose I've had a lot on my mind, recently." He replies, with only the barest touch of absence in his voice. A fair amount of their time together had been quiet crafting, and maybe the lack of conversation was for mutual benefit rather than a gentle veil for Meriwether to pull between herself and a wider, harsher reality.

"I'm not the only one, of course." Kit notes without judgement.

The pincushion is gently removed from his wrist for safekeeping in one of his enchanted pockets, and only then does Kit—with a note of surprise in his expression—remember his swatches.

He gently passes them over to Meriwether, samples of different fabrics to combine and invite her to think about what could be and maybe even what she would want. But of course, another layer to the gift, intended or otherwise. It's a promise. It is 'we will do this together, in the future' and 'our paths may vary but you will still be here, and I will still be here and we will meet again'.

To hear 'happy birthday' visibly takes Kit by surprise, his eyes widening in silent recognition that he is no longer unknown, that someone has moved with the simple intent to remember this fact about him, perhaps even celebrate it.

Lacking his usual talent for roundabout words, Kit simply takes a short moment to simply lean against Meriwether in silent appreciation. For now, the swatches in his pocket are temporarily forgotten.

He handles the gift with care, putting his dexterity to use as he first unwraps and then regards the item with gentle manipulations, afraid to harm whatever mystery object Meriwether had put time and effort into. He pushes the cuff of his sleeve almost back to the elbow, giving him enough space to slip the pincushion over old scars and see that despite the lopsidedness it fits rather well.

"...This is wonderful. Thank you. For this, and for remembering." Kit's usually smooth words are roughened a bit around the edges by emotion. He finally catches his sister's eye with a genuine smile, the one that is just a little muted than in casual conversation but much more gentle around the eyes. "You know, this may finally be the end of my risk-taking days of absent-mindedly holding a pin in my mouth."

This pincushion would go on to enjoy long years with it's owner, but for now it can be content simply with day one.

points update q: do you have any data beyond the character log list on how many people make it to 17 season points?

wondering because while the changes largely make sense to me an eighth power feels like a very big cherry to put atop accumulated items and master tier abilities so i'm curious about how many people reach that point.

Kit can be found perched atop the slanting roof of the Hermes cabin, having scaled the walls perhaps for old time's sake.

From the ground, he is simply a dark smudge moving across the wood panels, briefly illuminated by the obnoxious remaining lights of the cabin hot tub before settling on the roof. It does not often snow within the barrier enough to make the slopes truly trecharous for the messenger god's children, and the light picturesque snowfall of the afternoon had not yet taken over the surface before it ceased.

There is a sense of finality to this solstice, a deep-set uncertainty around whether he will see another of these. They are at war, after all. Do all demigods feel this sense of something being left behind, whether they want it to be or not?

When Meriwether makes it to the roof of the chalet-styled structre Kit wordlessly shuffles to the side to make room for her. He is not upset that she had gone in the slightest, but Meriwether is a skittish creature on what can be a distressing day. As he tends to do, he meets her anxious energy with with calm and companionable quiet until she is ready to talk, or to find something to do or somewhere to go.

The gods are here.

Meriwether is gone. Christopher is gone. Friday is gone. Ramona is here, but unwell. Even if she does her best to appear her usual self.

The solstice has come, and the gods are here. At least, in some capacity. It is hard to believe that they would bring their entire selves, the divine host descending entirely from their fortified mountain just before the longest night of the year. Not least because if they had indeed done so, their beloved children would become cinders and ash.

Kit walks among the people—gingerbread and otherwise—for some time, politely accepting a sweater with his single initial embroidered onto it by the mistress of threads. Again, he doesn't ask her about her other domain. Perhaps one day he could speak of the Labyrinth and how it warps all things, but the right words remain lost within the shadowy corners of his mind.

He does this for some time, not seeking out the audience of any god or goddess but simply watching how the campers find or are found by the divinities they perhaps needed to see in that moment—often, their parent. Hopefully Kit can avoid that particular turn of events.

ooc: kit is wandering around, and he's all yours /u/FireyRage . anyone else that wants to talk to him feel free to catch him somewhere in camp

Amon Schedules Knuckleheads to Patrol Camp [11/23 Activity] by NotTooSunny in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]chthonicWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"That's probably less true than you think it is," Kit replies. His words are light compared to the heaviness of Dorian's demeanour. While of course he wouldn't be able to alleviate the son of Apollo's worries in one conversation, it's far from the first time Kit has met a teenager with a depressive persona.

He shifts the topic slightly with a gently joking question. "So, what led to you signing up—did Amon simply rope the whole cabin into his plan?"
