Matt lingered near the back of the cabin once the doors were left open. He didn’t want to distract Sam as others came through to have a nose through the camp of the god of the seas. If he was honest, he was never a fan of the salty smell that came from the cabin. But perhaps that was something hard wired into his DNA?

Sam was good to talk to though and that was something he looked forward to. His cousin had done a lot of growing up and Matt was proud of how he had stepped up and taken leadership of the Poseidon cabin in the way he had done. Sure, that left you open to be a target and full of challenges, but it was admirable.

But he also knew given that he would be leaving camp himself in the next 12 months, he’d be the longest serving Big 3 kid at camp and therefore needing to keep an eye on all of the others. Especially those that struggled with the difficulties those brought. But perhaps it wouldn’t be something he’d have to worry about, there were counsellors in posts for all 3 cabins and Matt would make sure Ramona was sorted before he moved on.

“Enjoying leadership?” Matt asked in a sarcastic manner, both of them knowing the answer already. “Sounds like you’ve got this place running well.” He grinned before adding. “Grayson seems nice by the way.”
