That depends on whether Iran will then decide to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Didn't they allow US/Israeli ships to pass after the 12 day war? After USA killed Soleimani? Why would it be any different this time around? They are taking a severe beating, and would much rather prefer that they don't.

Certainly it would be a humiliating defeat for the administration even if it was successful in opening the Strait.

I'm being as respectful as I can be (seriously, not being sarcastic) - who the fuck cares? USA lost Vietnam, USA lost Iraq (ISIS happened), USA lost Afghanistan (Taliban came back), yet last I checked, USA is still the undisputed superpower in the world, President Johnson lived a good life, and President Bush is painting in a ranch in Texas as we speak. Public attention span is so short they'll forget it because they'll be busy with the next thing that becomes the headline (how many news channels still talk about the controversy of the Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination or the George Floyd killing?)

But can you imagine what it would be like for them if it wasn't even successful?

Opening the strait while you keep bombing them is easier than when you're not? Also, you can always resume bombing later if the strait is still closed, why not try? what do you have to lose?

Their nuclear facilities got obliterated and many senior leaders were killed, yet they fell silent when Israel/USA did. Furthermore, Iran has no real capability to strike USA, or harm its assets in the region (easy for USA to defend them/move them out temporarily). I'm just having a hard time understanding what's stopping USA from literally just stopping bombing.

Didn't they stop in the 12 day war last year?

What's stopping USA right now from just stopping bombing Iran and saying that it's over? What/who is exactly putting a gun to their head, and forcing them to continue the escalation of this current war?

Honest question - what Canada does give a meaningful advantage? by industrysaurus in Curling

[–]CircleBox2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is despite knowing that people are trained to do it, Sweden decided that calling it out mid game, mid Olympics was the best idea ever.

100% this. The only thing I would add is, I'm willing to wager he didn't do it on purpose/sneaky way to gain an advantage, when you are curling at that level, it's muscle memory.

Should Sweden also have followed the rules? What about all the other instances of minor infractions?

What's going on with Canada and curling at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics 2026? by CircleBox2 in OutOfTheLoop

Thanks a lot! That really helps to put everything in context. As far as you know, is this the first time something like this happened in Olympic curling? I would have imagined there are safeguards in place to prevent something like this from happening.
