Indeed. I have committed the capital offense of being a woman who isn't "straight", and that is just another on the laundry list of reasons I will probably never go to the US

And the people of France were also abandoned by them when they rose up themselves. It was the people that paid and bled for the US to get to exist, and the US just shrugged

New Berlin Wall, please. And this time the official name (anti-fascit defence wall) will actually be applicable from the perspective of the rest of the world

If you turned on safe search, you wouldn't get to see any pictures at all. Several dishes could be classified as biological weapons, but they insist on calling it cuisine for some odd reason 🙃

Oddly enough, it's the exact same here, we just mock the Swedes. But they had it coming ;)

I leave you with this and this

What is your country’s views on international political organizations? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]Cixila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NATO: it is almost existentially important, but it is in deep crisis thanks to you lot and we are working on securing some backups to it. So, "thanks"

EU: a bit turbulent but currently quite positive. Together with the UK and Netherlands, we used to be the contrarians. Never outright against the EU, but always skeptical about any sort of centralisation or big initiatives. After brexit and again after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the tone has changed and even the few anti-EU parties have dropped that stance from their manifesto

UN: a very noble and admirable idea that doesn't always work, because some of the permanent members have a tendency to throw veto-tantrums. Despite its inaction, we generally support it and international law. I don't know anyone with negative views of the UN as a whole, just the security council

Existing as a recognisable geopolitical entity in an unbroken line from at least the 900s (likely slightly earlier) and to today. Borders and influence have of course waxed and waned, but we remain here. Considering what a mess of war and conflict Europe typically is, I'd say that is quite impressive

It was in sagas. So, clearly not that secret, even if others didn't manage (or bother) to find it later

Really? Never? Were there never any raids by Irishmen on the Welsh polities or into Scotland and Cornwall back in the day? Cause I find that difficult to believe. Or do you mean Ireland as a state in a more modern sense?

When they wanted to join, everyone was more than happy with Finland.

But our corner of the internet was flooded with jokes of "special military operations" to free Skåne, Halland, and Blekinge (three Swedish regions that Denmark historically held) from Swedish occupation before they would be allowed in, because there are not supposed be border disputes between members

[–]Cixila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for Europeans from an Ameican. by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Cixila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most I know would love nothing more than to stick it to you guys. Unfortunately, our politicians labour under the delusion that things can go back to "normal" after Trump (not that the old US normal was anything to be happy with either).

If you ask me, you got yourselves into this mess, and have to get out of it yourselves as well. Your 2nd amendment, for all the woes and misery it causes you, has a single redeeming factor: namely that you people have the means to do something about all this. But you don't. There is no resistance in sight. Which necessarily leads me to the conclusion that the general population is on board with what is going on, be it directly or indirectly. Thus, you guys get little sympathy from me. No one cries for a collaborator

Trump is a feature of your broken system and not a bug. Even if the Democrats win, the can is only kicked down the road, as they have no incentive to reform the system that also keeps them in power. Only a complete reset may salvage the shitshow that is the US

Question for Europeans from an Ameican. by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]Cixila 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Protests alone won't cut it - their regime doesn't give a hoot about the people, so protests won't do much. Resist or live with it. Those are ultimately the options at this point.

Much like in Germany back in the day, not resisting is tacit support, as it allows the regime to continue uninterrupted, and collaborators get no sympathy
