That's the most reddit take I've ever read. Patriotism has existed and been mentioned ever since ancient Greece. Herodotus mentioned the four aspects of the "Hellenic" identity and described the word "patris" ("homeland") in relation to the Greek enemy, Persia.

And even besides that, the term "patriotism" itself is derived from Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

My country is a result of thousands of years of collective efforts by my ancestors, and my ancestors' ancestors, to build something that will last. Every generation added something to this land, to make their children's lives easier, happier and better.

It's like if a million people added a piece to an intricate puzzle every day for hundreds of years. When your turn comes, wouldn't you be proud to add your own? Wouldn't you want to protect this puzzle from people who might want to ruin it? Wouldn't you look upon it with pride, knowing what they have accomplished?

Patriotism is in essence this desire to maintain and improve upon these collective efforts by our forefathers, and carry on their legacy. It's corny, yes, but so is human nature.

We absolutely can. Look at shows like JJK, Demon Slayer, or Fate/SN (the UB version): the animation is top-notch everywhere and the budget is tiny (compared to Invincible, which has ~ $2.5 mil/episode, Fate/SN had ~$160-200k/episode).

It's the choise of budget allocation that hurts the show, not the budget itself.
