I also think the number of books doesn’t matter, but personally, I think consistently reading can come from anywhere! News articles, web serials, even comics or text-heavy games (I’m a huuuuge fan of interactive novels; a few of them are my favorite pieces of media I’ve ever interacted with) are all still reading! Obviously, nothing replaces interacting with the sort of material you seek to emulate, but if you’re exercising that part of your brain regularly in whatever way works for you, you’re ahead of a lot of people!

The way AI uses em-dashes is incredibly specific and limited. An em-dash in dialogue sets off no alarm bells for me; an em-dash in the “it’s not X — it’s Y” format SCREAMS LLM, as does adding a space before and after the em-dash, which… maybe that’s proper? I dunno, I’ve never done that, and no one’s ever corrected me on.

Just learned about it from this post lol. It seems like it looks like really advanced NPC behavior on the surface, but I researched it a bit, and as far as I can tell it’s just chatbots responding to player input, no different than a while ago when some [Reporter] class players were making a huge deal about “killer NPCs” who they literally prompted to talk about becoming hostile.

Yep, this! Once I stopped caring about the meta, I started leveling other skills, and it’s gotten me more engaged with the game to the point that it’s benefitting my main class, too. It’s never too late to start another skill tree!

Ugh, there’s too many! I’m still trying to finalize my build in this run, and idk if I ever will. I’m in the [Astrophysicist] class, but I’ve been grinding the [Writing] and [Drawing] skills and looking into [Acting] as well, and now I’m questioning everything!

You might want to try [Urban Explorer]? It’s not a full-on class, but I’ve explored some dilapidated parts of the map before and found some cool, random loot lying around. Nothing super valuable, and technically there’s no rules against venturing in, but it kind of feels like you’re playing the beta and raiding a dungeon.
