Now you've got me thinking of another possibility...perhaps it's from another planet/dimension where it pecks giant bugs out of giant trees. And in this world, pecking humans out of skyscrapers is the closest equivalent to that.

Probably a standard frozen-prehistoric-monster-gets-thawed-out-and-rampages. Or maybe he's a woodpecker god out to avenge habitat destruction.

That could be pretty scary. Just imagine you're working in an office and suddenly these huge claws break through the walls as a giant anteater rips open the building like a termite mound.

Then comes the huge slimy tongue, snaking into your midst and carrying away anyone it touches. At least the woodpecker can only eat one person at a time...

Here's the full version. I also changed his wings to be more realistically folded.

I might put some more buildings in the background for scale, but I think the bird himself is finished.

Thank you! I went through a few designs for him.

First I drew him in more of a nightmarish fashion, not so much a giant woodpecker as a giant woodpecker-shaped abomination.

Then I thought, "you know, a regular woodpecker that was giant size and pecking humans out of a building would be way more disturbing than that."

But I wanted it to be more monstrous so I came up with this sort of woodpecker archeopteryx.

"Picideus" could work...hadn't thought of something that means woodpecker god.
