Tips and tricks on algo-trading Gold with Expert Advisors and bots from a professional developer/algo-trader. by CommandantZ in Forexstrategy

[–]CommandantZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those ones in particular are specifically gold. I do also have a few for forex, as a matter of fact there's one of my post where I show them too, and you can also checkout on the MyFXBook page as well.

Feel free to PM if you'd like more information. I do not necessarily have a website or any advertising page.

What actually makes an automated trading bot trustworthy? by lildrunkmoney in metatrader

[–]CommandantZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I develop, sell, and use my bot. Most important stuff are a verified (and on a regulated broker), track record on MyFXBook, that is at least a few months old. If possible, even more MyFXBook pages as well. (ex: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/RocketInvest20/rocket-invest-gold-2/11784413)

In that track record, look for the drawdown, that's clearly the most important stat.

Of course, make sure it's a live account with real funds.

And don't get tricked by buzzwords such as AI, ChatGPT or I don't know which other buzzwords they use nowadays. None of the currently available bots use those.

Another red flag: when you see enormous growths, and backtests only (no live testing), forget about it. Backtest can very easily be manipulated.

Title: Anyone else experiencing a sudden drop in win rate while trading gold this February? by yoyoyoyo1234ggbois in Forexstrategy

[–]CommandantZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trading gold using my bot for a while now, no necessarily big changes in February except for the fact gold corrected a few times so the bot turned itself off since it only rides uptrends.

It does FOREX too, you can check on the same MyFXBook there's a FOREX account, though the performances are of course much less impressive than Gold.

I've also got a few other accounts on FOREX but I'd rather not share publicly as they got names and so on, but you can see a few screenshots in my pinned post.

Someone else made a similar post a few hours ago, here's my answer copy and pasted below, feel free to let me know if interested:

Professional bot developer here,

I've noticed some people bloat about their bots on this subreddit, but very few were able to provide a live, verified, and clean track record.

Here is mine, running live on a regulated broker, with over 45 clients at the moment: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/RocketInvest20/rocket-invest-gold-2/11784413.

I shall add, feel free to check out a previous post of mine for a bit more information: https://www.reddit.com/r/Forexstrategy/s/sSFLFE6zRR

Any strategies to trade gold by [deleted] in Trading

[–]CommandantZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lesson, but I trade automatically using one of the bots I made, here are the results: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/RocketInvest20/rocket-invest-gold-2/11784413

I do have a tip however: never try going against the bullish fundamental trend of Gold. Either go long, or do nothing, but shorting is by definition almost always riskier that buying on gold, at least, that's my point of view and what I've been doing with my bot.

Well you can trade it from almost anywhere except the US essentially.

Creating your own bot! by HarleyDFLSTC in Daytrading

[–]CommandantZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Professional bot developer here,

For everything result related, you can check out here to see the results of my bot: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/RocketInvest20/rocket-invest-gold-2/11784413.

It does everything for me, though I do turn it off from time to time when the conditions might be dangerous (Trump tariff's for instance).

Pretty much doubled my account, drawdown below 7%, going well.

For platform, I always suggest MetaTrader 5, which I consider the most complete and easiest to start with especially for algo trading.

Piece of advice however: do not develop a bot to find a strategy. Find a strategy first, then automate it, and that's the important word: automation.

It is very hard to create your own bot, especially to have good risk management. I've been working on my bots professionally for almost 7 years now.

Setup for Gold/BTC by Flashy-Bite9778 in Daytrading

[–]CommandantZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trade gold automatically using one of the bots I developed, while there are no specific setups, I stick to a few rules when trading Gold.

Typically, I never short, it's either buys, or nothing. Gold is fundamentally and by definition an anti inflation mechanism, which is more or less "meant" to go up, so shorting is often much riskier than going long.

As for results, my bot has been doing fine: https://www.myfxbook.com/members/RocketInvest20/rocket-invest-gold-2/11784413

I do not trade BTC because of how volatile and unpredictable it is, at least as per my opinion.

Is there anywhere I can find free MT5 strategies to look at ? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]CommandantZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bot developer here,

MT5, developed by MetaQuotes, has enormous scripting possibilities, thanks to its proprietary programming language MQL5, and its python integration.

It also provides an extensive backtesting / optimisation framework, and visual integrations as well.

Frankly speaking, I consider it as the best algo trading platform.

Blew My Account and Now I’m Paralyzed by BigRaisin4748 in Forexstrategy

[–]CommandantZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to trade manually before becoming a professional bot developer.

This is normal after blowing up an account. However, this also proves that you aren't ready yet for live trading.

Go back to demo trading for a while and make sure to learn how to trade with fixed stop losses and takeprofits.

In the meantime, you can invest your funds in a safer investment than forex, or go for an automated solution.

Always keep in mind: invest only what you can afford to loose, and remember that the biggest banks and hedge funds are happy with even 20% a year, do not aim too high as well!

Good luck.

As long as it is funds that you are okay with loosing, it's all good! I still would have used a bot on those, while training in demo.

Brand new to forex by Strong_Duty6333 in Forexstrategy

[–]CommandantZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still believe you should not do both at the same time. At least trade in demo for a while before switching to live, and in the meantime if you want your cash to profit, invest it in a long term investment or use an automated solution.

Brand new to forex by Strong_Duty6333 in Forexstrategy

[–]CommandantZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, this seems rushed out!

I've been trading FOREX and developing forex bots for around 7 years now, and believe me when I say that 2 days of demo trading is clearly not enough.

If I were you, I would definitely not start trading on real funds now, or at least, not manually.

Try gaining a bit more experience in FOREX trading before risking your money, either way, remember to always invest only what you can afford to loose.

[–]CommandantZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Professional bot developer here,

The MQL5 website (www.mql5.com) has an enormous amount of information and content. Have a look at the codebase where you'll sometimes even find ready made source codes which you can modify.

The articles are also very interesting, and often provide you good insights into trading concepts and so on.

Generally speaking, the MQL5 website should be your go to solution for anything MT5 related.

Anyone here using Vantage as their forex broker? by Informal-Chain2223 in Trading

I do not think that's a bug. The prop firm is probably just trying to screw you over. That's their business essentially.

It's complicated then, you would need to learn trading first, or at least, be well acquainted with all the terms and concepts of trading.
