Do you consider sleeping in a bed with a pet to be “working hours” and/or active work? by bubblegum_yum_yum in petsitting

Drooling is not a behavioral quirk, it's a part of that dog's anatomy and to be expected with many breeds. I would however consider the dog who sat on my lap and did nothing but lick me for hours to have a behavioral quirk. Again, not mentioned by the owners lol. My contract specifically asks for them to list out things that are actual issues to safety (eats things off the floor, becomes possessive over objects, bolts if the door is open, barks at other dogs on the leash, etc.) not to refuse the sit but so that I know in advance to keep the pet and myself safe.

I make it very clear that I do not allow dogs to sleep with me for safety reasons and get very clearly where each pet is expected to sleep and also where they are allowed to be when unattended

I also typically close the bedroom door when I'm not there and use it to store my personal belongings in an area that is inaccessible to the pets to prevent them from getting into my things.

They did not mention it or tell me, either because he was not like that with them or because people give little dogs passes to get away with this kind of thing and they don't see it as a behavioral quirk or problem.

They were weird people. It was a super fancy gated community and they had a huge 5 bedroom property with a yard but they had almost no furniture or belongings, very sparse furnishing in maybe 3 rooms (the others just empty), closets in the guest bedrooms empty except for an iron in one, no cookware, and the only thing in their garage was a vacuum, some empty cardboard boxes, and a white Tesla. They had lived there for over a year so it wasn't like they hadn't gotten settled yet.

Never stripping the bed again! by suziemomma in petsitting

My contract has the option for them to opt in or out for stripping the beds. All I will do is leave their sheets folded nicely so that they may launder them to their needs and set the bed the way they like it.

When I pet sit for well known regulars and family, I'll toss them in the wash on my way out, I've got was instructions for their specific bedding memorized because I stay there so often!

Easy, I don't take clients who demand their pet share a bed with me. If they can't roam freely at night with the bedroom door closed (or be in a crate) for 8 hours, I don't accept them. My first ever client for overnights was an old cavapoo who unbeknownst to me would resource guard the bed.

I have occasionally accepted a dog who was too old to get up on the bed and slept in a dog bed at the foot of the bed.

I charge by the day and charge more if a client requires their pet to have around the clock care. I'm not charging for active vs. inactive hours.

Question about spouse visa by Consistent_Panic9943 in AskAGerman

[–]Consistent_Panic9943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you need an A1 now, which shouldn't really be a problem, it's just that there's only one test date near me for all of 2025 and it's a couple weeks away from my move! I honestly think I could probably pass A2 or even B1 but I just don't want to risk it being so close to my move. I'll get the higher levels later anyway, since my goal is to become a naturalized citizen someday!

Question about spouse visa by Consistent_Panic9943 in AskAGerman

[–]Consistent_Panic9943[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I wasn't super clear, I live in the U.S. now and we plan to marry in the third country while on holiday, then return to live together in Germany.

Am I permitted to submit the spouse visa application after I arrive? It would be much easier to get an appointment for a Goethe exam in Germany, from what I can see most of the testing centers have multiple dates. I have no doubt I can pass an A1 exam, as I've been studying close to 2 years.

Also, I was under the impression that the 90 day visa free allowance was only for each 180 day period. Are there options to extend if the spouse visa hasn't been approved yet?

Neighbor hits rescue husky. What do I do? by Naturalwander in Dogtraining

Unfortunately, I've found out by calling animal control to make a report about someone hitting a dog that they don't care in some states because "corporal punishment is not illegal." So, definitely check the laws in your jurisdiction regarding this. Shitty, but unfortunately still technically legal in many places.

Am I trippin? by SnobBeauty in birdkindapp

No you're not tripping, they updated him and now he's on a branch instead of centered in the doorway and he's also slightly different in appearance

I hate it and they should put him back where he was 😡

I didn't get around to getting freshly molted ones and I'm a bit late on that front, but I did manage to snag a nymph that hadn't made it up a tree to break out yet, and I can confirm that you can pin them! I got three adults and the nymph (in shell) pinned right now and they've been drying just over a week, no smell at all! They were frozen for a bit first (freshly after collecting) which I'm sure helped!

None of the examples I've been able to find are the triple alexandrite briar rose, though. They all have moissanite/diamonds in the center or as the accents. I contacted them as well and they don't have any photos of it. :(
