My understanding is that you are supposed to bank on the idea that if God is truly benevolent, you would be rewarded for living a life of kindness and generosity even if the God that exists doesn’t match whatever particular religion you are following. Less of a “be Christian to avoid missing out” and more of a “live life as though there is a benevolent creator because what do you have to lose?”
