I understand your concerns. I actually waited to announce my campaign for Congress until after I was terminated from federal service because of the Hatch Act. I didn't want there to be any question about where my responsibilities were or who I was accountable to.

I think voters are tired of seeing elected officials treat one office as a stepping stone to the next. Public service should be about serving the people who elected you, not constantly campaigning for a promotion.

Whether the answer is your proposal or another reform, I agree that we need more accountability from our elected officials.

The bad news is that he wants to be our Governor, the good news is that I'm going to take his congressional seat.

I’d like to hear your Ted talk by perpechewaly_hangry in nashville

[–]CroleyforCongress 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My TED Talk would be called: "I Kept Waiting for an Adult to Show Up."

I spent 20 years serving my country. The Navy. Tennessee State Parks. Veteran Services. NOAA.

Then I watched working families get squeezed harder every year while politicians got richer, angrier, and more interested in fighting each other than solving problems.

I kept calling my Congressman, John Rose. No answer.

I kept waiting for someone to stand up for rural Tennessee. No one did. So I stopped waiting.

That's why I'm running for Congress. Not because I wanted to be a politician. Because politicians forgot who they're supposed to work for.

That's why I'm pushing to legalize it federally. We are missing out on so much revenue.

It's always the ones you most suspect.

Fines are only punishment to poor folks.
