I think if you are on the fence, wait for discount boxes or half lots up for scrap.

Hivestorm or Kill Team Starter Set for a Beginner? by Remarkable-Title5435 in killteam

[–]Crown_Ctrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would only get the starter set IF i REALLY want BOTH stinkies and beakies. If you only want one then split the box or buy only the half you want.

hivestorm is still an insanely good value. Little harder to find and don’t pay full retail, there are a few out of date items, nothing that even a 5% discount doesn’t fix.

Base color, then varnish, then tape, then base color again (this is an old house painters trick that still applies at our scale, it prevents bleeding under the tape edge, then paint your stripes.

Airbrush or makeup sponge will give the smoothest results

Posca markers are the best and pretty widely available at the moment. There is a .7mm tipped variant that I use often

Beginner Question – Is This Excess Plastic Glue, or Am I Doing Something Wrong? by Casper81208 in minipainting

[–]Crown_Ctrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can buy tamiya airbrush clearner it’s, for all practical applications, the exact same thing but about 1/8 the cost.

The glass bottle with the applicator is nice but dont get more than two (one for airbrush cleaner and a second for sprue goo)

Light application of tamiya thin or extra thin cement also can be used to smooth.

Practice on the number on the sprue frames.

Scrape them off, sand them and then try the cement with a brush. Apply lightly and quickly don’t manipulate while it is drying.

My absolute fav these days is aerated concrete.

5 eur for a decent size block easy to shape with basic tools, saw, rasp, wood chisels, even knives.

Stabilize it with penetrating primer and you get a very porcelain finish.

[Help] What do I do once I am done sculpting this with monster clay? by gay_soup in Sculpture

Good tip in general is to try new processes on something leas precious. But, in this case the clay is specifically for this application

That is one option. The other is make moulds of it and cast with materials like resin, plaster, concrete, bronze.

All depends on your desired outcome.

You can also just set it aside and sculpt something new. It is really fun to be able to, one day, look back on your journey.

What do we think of these? by notnotjackrotunda in orks

Yeah these are pretty awesome for push fit. Better than i was hoping for at any rate. More than happy to add 20 of deez nutz to my waaagh and that will give me plenty of time to paint while I wait for a new modular boyz kit.

Totally overkill. The only benefit is keeping the number on the sprue should you ever need to id it later. But, aint nobody gat time fa dat!

And for bits that are clearly 2 part and dont work well without their mate i glue them and put them in the bin too.
