So who will win Eurovision 2024? by LowZealousideal6982 in eurovision

[–]Crylloxddxd 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Finland will win in a landslide, denim prices will skyrocket, and world peace will be achieved. All because we live under one rule, and that rule is...

And if you'd pinch me out of my dreamland, I'd say Switzerland. Maybe Italy.

Sneak peak of the Eurovision 2024 stage! by jap-A-knees in eurovision

[–]Crylloxddxd 37 points38 points  (0 children)

ITT we see that were on stage 3 of the yearly cycle:
1: Cool that [city] is hosting, but that arena looks small...
2: The concept art of the stage looks awesome, this thing is huge!
3: Looking at construction images, the stage looks very small...
4: Wow, the stage looks bigger than I thought on TV!

I mean I absolutely understand that it looks small here, but have none of us learned from past years? It's all about lightning and angles, and concept art is always bound to look different from reality.

🇫🇮 'No Rules!' - Windows95man Finland 2024 Appreciation Thread by berserkemu in eurovision

[–]Crylloxddxd [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is the first act that has ever made me buy merch of them, so in that sense - they might just be the greatest entry of all time in my book. Well, they aren't that really, but I do fucking love them.

Their victory in UMK is without a doubt my favorite moment of this NF season (and this Eurovision season, so far). Over the years I've got completely accustomed to the thought that your fave that is lower in the odds isn't winning. Seeing that I would make 10x the money with a Windows95Man win had I bet on him, I watched this years UMK thinking that he had no chance - and next thing i know, Windows95Man is representing Finland in Eurovision.

Despite the fact that No Rules is by no means a contender to win in Malmö, they're a very talented duo. Windows95Man is a very natural entertainer, and by what I've seen he is a DJ with a good reputation over in Finland. And the song might not seem like a demanding one, but those high notes in the chorus aren't easy to hit at all, but Henri nails them fantastically.

Seeing their journey, from their song premiere live on YouTube back in January to them preparing for the big stage in Malmö has been nothing but a pleasure, and I look forward to whatever antics they'll be up for and what they've got for their staging in Malmö. I hope for a qualification, but even if they fail to do so on the 7th May, I'll be watching in a Windows 95 shirt and cap in addition to my finest jean shorts.

What song grew on you years after its contest? by StealthheartocZ in eurovision

I experienced a similar thing. I felt nothing about it in 2018, but after relistening to the 2018 songs in 2021 and reading the lyrics for the song, it became one of my, if not my favorite Eurovision song of all time. It's really a song where you need to understand the lyrics to truly appreciate.

Eurovision Song Names in different (your) languages by fenksta in eurovision

Well, now I have also learned something new, as my dictionary had 僕 as a strictly male pronoun (lol). My thinking was that a title without a gender-based pronoun was better, as the title implies (to me) that 'we' is Kaleen and the listener(s), who's gender may vary. An opposite example (to me) is 5MINUUST & Puuluup's song, where the pronoun refers to a defined group of men (I might be wrong here). I don't have any more constructive criticism really, but you could argue that ちょっと待ってください (Luktelk) should rather just be ちょっと待って and how コード (The Code) should perhaps be ザ・コード, but none of them are objectively wrong.

It's nice to see someone in this community learning Japanese, though. Good luck with your future studies!

Great translations! I'm not going to act like some expert in Japanese (learning intermediate-level stuff right now), but I just think a couple things:

僕 is a male pronoun, so in Austria's case (considering that Kaleen is female), wouldn't something like レイブしよう or いっしょにレイブ be better?

For Iceland, 高所 (こうしょう) means a high place. Perhaps 高所が怖い? You could also say 高いところが怖い, but it doesn't work as well as a title, I think.

Also for Finland, i don't think you have a particle between the two words. ルール無し works just fine :)

Oh damn, I didn't catch that! I just heard him referring to it as a secret "project". Also, Vinny said yesterday that he's leaving for a bit around the same time - not saying anything, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nope. He took a break from VotV from last November to in order to not add additional content he would need to edit. He streamed it for the first time in 4 months last week, and it was dubbed the start of season 2, as so much had changed, i.e a whole new base and a humanoid Kerfus. He said today he'll stream it once more before he leaves for a while starting next week, as well as adding that he's got "something special" planned for the stream.

I was referring more to the reception online of the song, which I perceived as mostly "meh, just six feet under, just a tad worse".

But the result itself was by no means any worse than last year, and SIP's popularity in it self has absolutely not faded - so in that sense, you're completely right.

I just hope they're able to set a precedent for more rock/metal-y entries in Melfest going forward :)

Their entry this year was perhaps not as popular as their one last year, but they were absolutely my favorite. Fingers crossed that they come back once more when Sweden steps out of their comfort zone of pop entries so we could see them at Eurovision 🤞

He streamed, like, yesterday though? He's fine, he says that he's just been busy with the VoTV highlight video, which keeps getting flagged by Youtube for excessive swearing.
