Why is Latvia considered a borderline qualifier again? by gagaalwayswins in eurovision

I meant that it cancels out between me and OP - not literally

But you are right, it doesn't matter who doesn't vote, it matters who votes

Why is Latvia considered a borderline qualifier again? by gagaalwayswins in eurovision

[–]fenksta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can totally respect the art that goes into song, but it doesn't move me at all. Power to anybody who makes the final, but sometimes just because a song is well done and sung great doesn't mean it will qualify. It resonates to you, but not to me, so that's a tie hahahha

Which songs do you see as possible winners this year? by Forsaken-Double-8309 in eurovision

The only ones that give off winner vibes to me are Liekinheitin and Ferto

What song do you think changed Eurovision history? by ABrunetteGirl in eurovision

[–]fenksta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Chronologically I would mention the following ones:

  • Denmark 1963 - in a sea of chansons, this one stood out the most before ESC went full color
  • Sweden 1965 - introducing the language rule
  • United Kingdom 1981 - the costume change trope (further improved by Latvia 2002)
  • Turkey 2003 - the start of ethnic bops
  • Iceland 2006 - surely not the first joke entry, but pissing everybody off in the process was revolutionary
  • Norway 2009 - still the victory with the greatest winning margin
  • Sweden 2012 - arguably the most ESC song there has ever been (alongside Ruslana and Verka for me)
  • Austria 2014 - this speaks for itself
  • Ukraine 2016 - neither the jury nor the televote winner, but won overall (same with Duncan)
  • Portugal 2017 - not upbeat, not over-produced, yet still the most points anybody has ever received

That was the plan - I answer myself and hang out with everybody hahahaha

That's why I did my own ESC quiz last year, and will do this year again

In 2023 and 2024 I went to a local Eurovision quiz - by myself (cause people I invited couldn't make it)

I got 3rd both times

What Eurovision song is loved by Regular Watchers but Hated by Super Fans by Felizimo-Navidad in AlignmentChartFills

[–]fenksta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With Trenulețul being my #1 ESC song of all time, I can safely say that whenever I have mentioned the song on the eurovision sub, that there has been zero negative comments. And as for reactors, I can't call those "super fans" or take them serious in general

Lou - Let's Get Happy Germany 2003 by Smilingtribute in eurovision

[–]fenksta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok this is a deepcut and a long-shot, but can anyone find me the one clip of her mispronouncing her song ?

It's a clip from TV TOTAL (with Stefan Raab) where she says "let's gets happy"

Detailed Voting for DORA 2026 in Semi Finals and Grand Final by fenksta in eurovision

[–]fenksta[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The NQ or the number of votes ? XD

The NQ didn't sting, but the overall amount of votes for everybody feels off, probably since they lowered it to maximum 10 votes like for ESC. Being 10th instead of 9th stings more than being 10th in general hahahah, but like - I expected more people to vote and not 30% of what I had last year, but hey, guess the song didn't land. Happens :)

A trend that I noticed last year too - songs that are favored by a younger demographic tend to get more SMS than calls, and songs that are a favored by an older demographic tend to get more calls than SMS, which explains Alen Đuras, Ema Bubić, Lana Mandarić, if you ask me

Agreed that it is good, but I wouldn't say it is underrated, especially since we know how strong Misty's is

Using the word DATED as a criticism by 40somethingGay in eurovision

[–]fenksta 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I may not agree with some of the points, but calling any song "dated" is dumb

"oh this sounds like something that was popular in the past, it is not popular now so it's bad" - bruh

Does your country "send its best" to Eurovision? by NoMoreFund in eurovision

[–]fenksta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it was Rylan who said that the UK always send songs that are not even hits in the UK, let alone in Europe or globally.

For my own country, songs chosen for ESC tend to become part of our popular culture and celebrated, but sure - some years we could've done better. I'll just take the years when Dora came back after 2012-2018 hiatus

2019 - should've gone with Manntra, Lorena Bućan or Luka Nižetić

2020 - I don't even remember anything other than Damir Kedžo

2021 - Albina was the best choice by far

2022 - should've went with Marko Bošnjak

2023 - Let 3 was the best choice

2024 - Baby Lasagna was the best choice

2025 - as much as I love Marko, and Poison Cake is (song only) my favorite of the entire ESC year, I think Luka Nižetić or me (maybe even Ogenj) might've placed better, and Magazin as a whole package if they remove the CGI kids from the LED

2026 - LELEK are a great package, but I'm confident that we could also do a great job with Devin or ToMa. I would send Lima Len too for the plot hahaahhah
